Know Better Do Better

14. The Ugly Truth About News Media

Listen Later

What happens when news media stops considering what we need to hear and starts playing into what we want to hear? When they stop treating us like students and start treating us like consumers? Answer: Bad stuff. Very bad stuff.

In this episode, I explain how informing and entertaining have opposite purposes that don't play together nicely. We also talk about a lot of things that I’m convinced are bad for your soul (doomscrolling, political memes, echo chambers, etc) and how to take care of yourself (ditching the memes, diversifying your news feed, local engagement, etc).
