He was recognized at the highest level of membership in the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and authored 28 books addressing a wide range of counseling issues.

Wayne was a devoted husband to his wife, Carol, since 1957. Together, they raised four children and welcomed into their family three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and many grandchildren.
