First up: Ben Wheatley's Normal, where Bob Odenkirk rolls into a small town as an interim sheriff and slowly realizes every single person around him is armed, paid off, and protecting a Yakuza treasure vault. We talk about what makes this feel like a grounded, gorier version of Nobody and how Wheatley's genre-blending sensibility makes Normal feel like the neo-noir Western we didn't know we needed.

Then we pivot to Lee Cronin's The Mummy, the divisive body horror family drama that's also an exorcism film that's also a Sam Raimi Evil Dead riff that's also a revenge movie. We love Cronin, and there's real craft here, but we dig into why the film's identity crisis keeps it from landing as hard as it could. From the Nazmaranian demon mythology to the dentures scene to that wild epilogue, nothing is off limits.
