Our guest is Dr Ed Anderson, a prominent ophthalmologist from Durban, South Africa who shares insights from his diverse career, which included working as a physician in multiple continents. The discussion highlights the unique challenges of ophthalmology in South Africa, where a small number of specialists manage a large population with advanced surgical needs. Beyond medicine, Dr. Anderson discusses his passion for wildlife photography and birding. He recently served as the president of the South African Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (SASCRS) which I was fortunate to attend this year and once before 15 years ago.
