Bernie och Dan talk about Croesus, king of Lydia, and his impact on Middle East politics. The Lydian king has to juggle relations with the Medes, the Babylonians and also - to the west - the greek cities. This unique position gives him many opportunities to increase his wealth. Also they recently invented coinage as we talked about in an earlier episode.
