Beltane marks the halfway point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. Beltane is a celtic celebration of fire, fertility, rebirth, sexuality, and sensuality. It celebrates the union of the God and the Goddess, of masculine and feminine energies.

The stories of Robin Hood and Cinderella seem to be based off the Beltane story of the union of the May Queen and the Green Man. Beltane is filled undeniably filled with sexuality and sensuality. The May Pole is a phallic symbol. To go A’Maying was to have a one night stand in the woods with a masked stranger in celebration of Beltane.
