It wasn’t pretty, but to the surprise of just about everyone, Forest managed to get three points with two late goals against a Swansea team who pretty, if not effective. Baz reviews the outcome, the tactics and decodes Martin O’Neill’s pre-match press conferences - although at this stage of the season, isn’t it just the points that count?

In March’s Forest Ramble Podcast, Rich Ferraro and Steven Toplis explore the importance of midfield, which won us the Derby game, but lost us the fixture against Villa. The podcast team also explore the importance of personnel, such as Lewis Grabban, Joao Carvalho and Jack Robinson, and have a look at the fixture list as we enter the end of season run-in.

In addition, there is another mention for the officials (do Premier League referees ever do well in the Championship?), and the odd disconnect between the positivity at the City Ground, and the doom and gloom on social media and comments pages.

A disappointing night at the City Ground, as Forest once again failed to win two matches in a row, and simultaneously surrendered their strong recent home record. Steven Toplis reflects on Villa’s strengths, Forest’s areas for improvement, and saves some special words for the performances of Celebrity Ref Mike Dean and the Villains’ role as… well, villains.

In the end it seemed quite comfortable, but it took seventy minutes and two attacking substitutions to get there. Rich Ferraro and Baz review Forest’s victory over Hull City, praising Martin O’Neill’s tactical changes, Joao Carvalho’s talent, and Karim Ansarifard’s tricky surname, as well as saving the last word for Pele (which we never thought we would say on this podcast).

After a gritty, hard-fought but excellent win over our woolly rivals from down the road, Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz, Steven Toplis and the Maradona Of The Midlands to review the match, the tactics and the Reds’ playoff prospects. There are kind words for the manager, the midfield and the massive pair of beasts at centre-half, not forgetting the mammoth contribution from Forza Garibaldi and the Forest supporters.

In February’s Forest Ramble, Rich Ferraro, Steven Toplis and the Maradona Of The Midlands discuss the circumstances that have clearly cost the Reds six points this season, making the difference between the play-off places and mid-table obscurity; do these things really even themselves out over the course of a season?

The podcast team also explore recent results since Martin O’Neill came to the helm, discuss transfers in and out, talk about youth v experience (hello Ryan Yates), and talk tactics - any suggestions that Martin is a dinosaur are surely being debunked.

Finally, a word for Kelvin Wilson - remember him?

Another win for Forest at home under Martin O'Neill, and another missed penalty for Lewis Grabban. With transfer business concluded. Baz reviews the personnel and tactics used by MON, with particular mentions for Leo Bonatini, Alex Milosevic, Ryan Yates and Lewis Grabban, and a prediction about Forest's style of play under the new manager.

In this Forest Ramble Podcast Extra, your intrepid reporters consider the romantic appointment of Martin O’Neill, and his prospects of being the Reds manager this time next year (don’t say you hadn’t thought about it).

With a defensive crisis to manage, O’Neill had stumbled into a disappointing defeat and bugbears about his tactical approach against Brizzle City (funny that, when so many people were lamenting Karanka not playing 4-4-2). However, this was followed by an encouraging win and performance against Wigan Athletic.

A windswept Baz, speaking before the Wigan game, sounded pessimistic about Forest’s prospects for the rest of this season, and the style of play under MON. However, the Maradona Of The Midlands and Steven were both more positive, perhaps buoyed by the weekend’s victory.

After an encouraging, if not earth-shattering first win for Martin O'Neill, Baz reviews the match. Although he didn’t think Wigan had much to offer, he had good words to say about the midfield (in particular the return of club captain Ben Watson), and the gaffer’s tactical tweaks. He also praises the fans for singing Pants’ name despite his potentially costly first-half error.

What a difference a win makes!
