  • Guest Show: The Centurion, part 2 of 2
When a presidential candidate is kidnapped by a deadly, tech-savvy serial killer, it's up to the Centurion to rescue him from certain doom. But is saving the extremely polarizing candidate, with plans that could economically wreck the country, the right thing to do?   Narrator - Emmanuel Mendes-Chumaceiro The Centurion - Lexsy McKowen iPsycho - Chris .R. Notarile The Specialist - Leon Sheen Rolland Cruise - Joseph Callari   A WORD FROM CHRIS You really cannot defeat the iPsycho. And think that is what truly makes him cool. Even if you physically manage to best him, the guy is still has the logical argument. It may not be the morally correct argument, but it's always the most logical.   I knew going into this story, the Centurion's powers could not play a factor in this meeting of the minds. Kayla could not be allowed to physically touch the iPsycho or else the story would immediately fall into predictable territory and I did not want that. I wanted him to have 100% control of the situation from beginning to end, and present an argument so obvious, you could only agree with him. This leaves the Centurion with only her ideals, and as wonderful as they are, ideals mean nothing when you're dealing with in a morally gray situation.   As I've mentioned before, I wrote this back in 2015, and I wanted to end this story with the same amount of dread I felt going into 2016. It's really sad when I think back on it, but now, after living through the worst presidency I will probably ever experience, I think it packs a bigger punch for the Centurion. Knowing what we've gone through, and juxtaposing that with the Centurion's potential future definitely makes this story more impactful. And you can't help but ask yourself the same question- if you had the chance to stop a potential threat, would you do it?

She's been featured in the PHANTOM FAYE webseries I made back in 2015, as well as my live action graphic novel- UNITED THEY STAND, which is available for free with Amazon Kindle. I highly recommend checking both out.   I wrote this script back in 2015 for a Centurion live action series, but life got in the way and I couldn't make it happen at the time. Flash forward to now, and I finally decided to convert it to radio play format. For those of you who are getting a sense of deja vu, yeah, Rolland Cruise is based on a certain orange faced candidate who ran for president, won, and nearly destroy America. I pretty much knew the trajectory Mr. Cruise's real life counterpart was taking us in, so I immediately began writing this script (long before he got the party nomination) and just planned for the worst.   I knew the second Mr. Cruise's real life counterpart announced his racist run, he was a prime candidate for the iPsycho. So making him the main obstacle for the Centurion was incredibly easy. What I love most about that character is how clever and dedicated he is. He's an incredibly formidable foe in any scenario. So it's always best to never get in his shit list.

  • Guest Show: The Protector vs Red Star
When a mysterious super powered titan begins destroying downtown Republic City, The Protector leaps into action to stop mad man's carnage. But is the Protector powerful enough to take on another superhuman? Or has he finally met his match?   Narrator - Emmanuel Mendes-Chumaceiro The Protector - Tom Proprofsky Robert O’Reilly - Heath Harper Red Star - Chris .R. Notarile Carmen - Kelli Kickham Cabbie - Josh Rothman   CHECK OUT OUR MERCH: https://www.redbubble.com/people/blin...   A WORD FROM CHRIS So I had this idea a little over a decade ago, which I had intended to put into comic book format. But because I was never able to complete my printed comic run of the Protector, it never happened. But after I made the Avenger radio play, I threw caution to the wind and decided to finally flesh it out. The goal was to show that the Protector is more than just a Superman archetype. He's a human being with his own set of flaws. He is not perfect, even though he tries to be. Showing him coming face to face with the polar opposite of himself is pretty much the scariest thing for him. He got to look into the mirror and see his worst reflection staring back.   I also wanted to do a little world building with this story and address how the Protector operates as a crime fighter, without having to don the cliche'd pair of glasses to hide his identity. I never understood how unmasked superheroes, especially in present day, manage to stick around and conduct interviews with the press, yet never have to worry about facial recognition. I think having the Protector make the conscientious decision to keep a low profile in both of his lives helps make him a little more plausible.   As for the Red Star, I wanted to keep his motives very simple. This guy has an agenda and does not want to deal with any unforeseen threats. He is not the typical villain though. He does not want to take over the world. He doesn't want money. Essentially, the guy just wants to be left alone, and wants to ensure nobody will ever mess with him. However sometimes, you have to say you want to be left alone very loudly.   I didn't want this story to be wrapped up with a nice, neat bow. Because that's not how life works. Hell, who even won the fight? Was Red Star truly bested? Or did he actually get inside the Protector's head? Hopefully it will make you think a little bit.

  • Guest show: The Avenger

Inspired by the debut of Republic City's super powered, caped hero, The Protector; Officer Robert O'Reilly dawns a mask and takes to the streets to start his own vigilante crusade against crime as The Avenger!

    VOICE CAST:
    Narrator - Emmanuel Mendes-Chumaceiro
    Robert O’Reilly - Heath Harper
    The Protector - Tom Proprofsky
    Benedict - Joe Finfera
    Judge - Frank Palangi
    Doyle - Angelo Mercado
Bar Patron - Zoelle Annora Zero
    Bar Patron - Qalil Ismail
    Man - Josh Rothman
Additional voices - Chris .R. Notarile

A WORD FROM CHRIS This story is actually a revised version of the script for the unreleased issue #2 of my original comic book, THE PROTECTOR, which you can read for free with Kindle here: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=digital-te... In that book, The Protector makes his presence known to Republic City, and we see how he handles himself as both a superhero and a crime scene investigator. Issue 2 (this story) deals with the fallout of how vigilante justice can complicate things, specifically in the courts.

I never planned to release issue 2 as a radio play, but since I was never able to complete the actual comic, and I had such fun with my last couple of radio plays: JACK SLATER V, and WEST OF SHATNER, I decided why not? And gave it a go. Recording and editing radio plays are actually really easy for me, which makes them a lot of fun. Plus, I get to act, which I love and continually wish to do more of.

Unfortunately, I think I might have played one too many parts in this play, due to lack of other actors being available and or having proper recording equipment. But them's the breaks.

  • Guest show: West of Shatner

From the amazing and hilarious Chris Notarile, who did the very Serling-esque narration for us in "The Dreams in the Witch House" last fall!  We'll be hosting several of his shows - watch here on Saturdays!

    WEST OF SHATNER
Two of the world's greatest detectives (Adam West & William Shatner) have joined forces to solve mysteries on the mean streets of Venice Beach, California.

    CAST

    Adam West - Steve Ross
    William Shatner - Sean Kenin
Tom Cruise - Evan (Not Tom Cruise) Ferrante
    Westnermobile 2000 - Chris .R. Notarile
    Katrina - Shannon McDermott
    Ninja - Emmanuel Mendez-Chumaceiro
    Betty - Lindsey Bean
    Irish Cop - Heath Harper
    Narrator - Josh Rothman

    A WORD FROM CHRIS

I honestly have no idea where this concept came from. I just remember one day, years ago, I thought it would be funny if Shatner and West ever did a buddy cop style show. But for many years, it was just a silly idea. A throwaway concept that would make people chuckle, and nothing more.

Last year, I made a silly poster just for the hell of it, but it wasn't until this quarantine, that I decided to say "screw it" and try to bring this concept to life. It was just so zany and outlandish, that it makes me giggle just thinking about it.

When creating the script for West of Shatner, I wanted to throw in as many cliches and insane ideas as I could think of, from being attacked by ninjas to them driving a talking Delorean that sounds like Matt Berry. It was very freeing to have zero limitations and restrictions.

All dialog was recorded remotely and separately from my voice actors' respective homes. One of the great things about doing these radio plays is that they are so easy to produce. It's exciting and I kinda of want to do more.
