They both were very troubled individuals with horrible childhoods that found a path to each other.  Their love affair started with a dirty and disheveled  Danny Buttrum asking 15 year old Janice for some cigarettes,  the rest is romance history.  
This killer pair lasted only 2 year, when they decide to commit a horrible crime on a 19 year old victim.
