Avian flu found among flocks in captivity.
Fliú na n-éan aimsithe i measc ealta i ngéibheann.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has revealed that bird flu has been found among flocks of birds in a kennel in north Dublin.
Tá sé tugtha le fios ag an Roinn Talmhaíochta, Bia agus Mara gur aimsíodh an fliú éanúil i measc ealta éan i ngéibheann i dtuaisceart Bhaile Átha Cliath.
The Department said that last weekend it was confirmed that the birds had the flu, the first outbreak of the disease among birds in captivity since last Christmas.
Dúirt an Roinn gur dearbhaíodh an deireadh seachtaine seo caite go raibh an fliú ar na héin, an chéad ráig den ghalar i measc éan i ngéibheann ón Nollaig seo caite.
The birds were kept in captivity in Kilfinton, where it was recently confirmed that the seabirds in the area also have the flu.
I gCill Fhionntain a bhí na héin i ngéibheann á gcoinneáil, áit ar deimhníodh le gairid go bhfuil an fliú ar éin mhara an cheantair freisin.
The Department said that it is not poultry - chickens and turkeys - that are in question and as evidence of that there was no need to put any additional restrictions on the poultry industry in the area.
Dúirt an Roinn nach éanlaith chlóis - leitheidí sicíní agus turcaithe - atá i gceist agus ina fhianaise sin nár ghá aon srianta breise a chur ar an tionscal éanlaithe sa cheantar.
It was also said that the outbreak is unlikely to spread since it is a "relatively small flock".
Dúradh chomh maith gur caolseans go leathfaidh an ráig ós "ealta réasúnta beag" atá i gceist.
For that, the Department asked the industry to be vigilant.
Ar a shon sin, d'iarr an Roinn ar lucht an tionscail a bheith airdeallach.
Only the truly awful case of avian influenza being contracted by humans has ever been reported.
Níor tuairiscíodh riamh go dtí seo ach an fíor-chorrchás den fhliú éanúil a bheith tolgtha ag daonnaithe.
