New figures obtained by Nuacht TG4 from the Department of Agriculture show that the largest number of animals in the last 6 years have been registered as missing or stolen from farms.

One of them is Mary Jo Kissane, a 73-year-old widow from North Kerry.

Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue says the country has some of the strictest restrictions in the world on the meat that goes to the table.
