A review of children's mental health care in North Kerry.

The Health Service Executive has announced that they are to undertake a review of the CAMHS mental health service in North Kerry.

A random inspection of 50 files revealed "cause for concern" says the Executive in the case of 16 of those 50 children.

The Newsroom understands that the concern relates to "prescribing practices" and "concerns about the professional practice of a clinician only".

They say the review will be on the same scale and layout as the review of the South Kerry CAMHS service, carried out by child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr Seán Maskey, who is on duty in London.
