Money laundering: the Government hopes to establish a new authority in Ireland.
Sciúradh airgid: súil ag an Rialtas údarás nua a bhunú in Éirinn.
The Minister for Finance Michael McGrath has declared that the Government will ask the European Union to locate a new authority to combat money laundering in Ireland over any other member state.
Tá sé dearbhaithe ag an Aire Airgeadais Michael McGrath go n-iarrfaidh an Rialtas ar an Aontas Eorpach údarás nua atá le dul i ngleic le sciúradh airgid a lonnú in Éirinn thar aon bhallstát eile.
The Anti-Money Laundering Authority is to be formally established next year but no headquarters have been chosen yet.
Tá an tÚdarás um Fhrith-Sciúradh Airgid le bunú go foirimiúil an bhliain seo chugainn ach níl aon cheanncheathrú roghnaithe fós.
It is said to be a very powerful authority whose aim will be to ensure compliance with laws relating to money laundering and terrorist financing.
Deirtear gur údarás an-chumhachtach a bheas ann a mbeidh sé mar aidhm aige a chinntiú go gcomhlíonfar na dlíthe a bhaineann le sciúradh airgid agus maoiniú sceimhlitheoireachta.
The authority will focus primarily on the financial services sector.
Is ag díriú ar an earnáil seirbhísí airgeadais a bheas an t-údarás ar gcéad dul síos.
The new authority will employ hundreds of people in various fields and will require experts in governance, technology, administration and business.
Beidh na céadta duine fostaithe i réimsí éagsúla ag an údarás nua agus beidh saineolaithe i gcúrsaí rialachais, teicneolaíochta, riaracháin agus gnó ag teastáil.
Regarding its headquarters, Michael McGrath says that Ireland has an advantage over other member states because there is already a large financial services sector and plenty of fully qualified workers in this country.
Maidir le ceanncheathrú de, deir Michael McGrath go bhfuil buntáiste ag Éirinn ar bhallstáit eile de bhrí go bhfuil earnáil mhór seirbhísí airgeadais agus neart oibrithe láncháilithe sa tír seo cheana féin.
Those, he says, without mentioning the good reputation we have in terms of governance and administration.
Iad sin, a deir sé, gan trácht ar an dea-cháil atá orainn ó thaobh rialachais agus riaracháin de.
Eight other member states are competing, however, and it is expected that the winner's place will be announced later this year.
Tá ocht mballstát eile san iomaíocht, ámh, agus meastar gur amach sa bhliain a fhógrófar áit an áidh.
