Schools to divide teachers into "popular subjects".
Scoileanna le múinteoirí a roinnt in "ábhair mór-éilimh".
The Department of Education intends to start a pilot scheme in September to enable post-primary schools to share teachers to teach subjects that are in high demand.
Tá sé i gceist ag an Roinn Oideachais scéim phíolótach a thosú i mí Mheán Fómhair le cur ar chumas scoileanna iarbhunoideachais múinteoirí a roinnt chun ábhair a bhfuil éileamh mór orthu a mhúineadh.
Minister Norma Foley said that the scheme will be introduced in several places in the next school year.
Dúirt an tAire Norma Foley go dtabharfar an scéim isteach i roinnt áiteanna sa scoilbhliain seo chugainn.
This pilot scheme is based on a scheme established in 2019 which allowed two schools to share teachers.
Bunaithe ar scéim a bunaíodh i 2019 a cheadaigh do dhá scoil múinteoirí a roinnt, atá an scéim phíolótach seo.
In response to a Dáil question from Deputy Eoin Ó Broin, Sinn Féin, Minister Foley said that the scheme will attract teachers of subjects who are in high demand to teaching positions and that they will be given a full-time contract.
I bhfreagra ar cheist Dála ón Teachta Eoin Ó Broin, Sinn Féin, dúirt an tAire Foley go meallfaidh an scéim múinteoirí ábhair a bhfuil éileamh mór orthu chuig postanna múinteoireachta agus go dtabharfar conradh lán-aimseartha dóibh.
The Minister also announced that the Department intends to implement "a program of comprehensive policies" "that will support the supply of teachers," - among which is a new program to enable teachers to receive a higher level of training themselves in Irish as a subject.
D'fhógair an tAire chomh maith go bhfuil sé i gceist ag an Roinn "clár de bheartais chuimsitheacha" a chur i bhfeidhm "a thacóidh le soláthar múinteoirí,"- ina measc sin tá clár nua le cur ar chumas múinteoirí leibhéal breis oiliúna a chur orthu féin sa Ghaeilge mar ábhar.
The Department says that additional places have been made available on additional training programs for teachers in Mathematics, Spanish and Physics, and that the Department is considering doing the same in "other important subjects."
Deir an Roinn go bhfuil áiteanna breise curtha ar fáil ar chláracha breis-oiliúna do mhúinteoirí sa Mhatamaitic, Spáinnis agus san Fhisic, agus go bhfuil an Roinn ag meas a mhacasamhail a dhéanamh in "ábhair thábhachtacha eile."
