An inquiry into the killing of thousands of trout in Clare.
Fiosrúchán faoi mharú na mílte breac sa Chlár.
State agencies are investigating an ecological incident in which thousands of trout were killed in a river in northern County Clare.
Tá fiosrúchán ar bun ag gníomhaireachtaí stáit i dtaobh eachtra éiceolaíochta inar maraíodh na mílte breac in abhainn i dtuaisceart Chontae an Chláir.
Irish Inland Fisheries estimates that up to 2,000 trout are dead and that it could be years before the river recovers.
Measann Iascach Intíre Éireann go bhfuil suas le 2,000 breac marbh agus go bhféadfadh blianta a bheith romhainn sula dtiocfaidh an abhainn chuici féin arís.
That agency says it is the worst trout kill incident in the region for almost 20 years.
Deir an ghníomhaireacht sin go bhfuil sé ar an eachtra is measa ó thaobh mharú na mbreac dhe sa réigiún le beagnach 20 bliain.
The Ballymcraven River near Ennisdom is in question.
Abhainn Bhaile Mhic Cráibhín in aice le hInis Diomáin atá i gceist.
It is estimated that thousands of trout, eels and young bream are dead after some ecological incident in the river.
Meastar go bhfuil na mílte, idir bhric, eascain agus bardáin óga marbh tar éis eachtra eiceolaíochta éigin san abhainn.
This river flows into the Eidneach in Ennisdom, a river that has been recognized as a special area of conservation.
Ritheann an abhainn seo isteach san Eidhneach in Inis Diomáin, abhainn atá aitheanta mar cheantar speisialta caomhnaithe.
A community group in this area has been working for 10 years to improve the river's water quality and biodiversity.
Tá iarrachtaí ar bun ag grúpa pobail sa cheantar seo le 10 mbliana caighdean uisce agus bithéagsúlachta na h-abhann a fheabhsú.
Paudie Fahy from the group said that what has happened is a big disappointment to them, especially because there were young bream in the river and it will now take years to get out of here.
Dúirt Paudie Fahy ón ngrúpa gur cúis mhór díomá dóibh an méid atá tarlaithe, go h-áirithe mar go raibh bardáín óga san abhainn agus go dtógfaidh sé blianta anois teacht as seo.
The Environmental Protection Agency is aware of the act.
Tá an Ghníomhaireacht um Chaomhnú Comhshaoil ar an eolas faoin eachta.
Uisce Eireann said it is in contact with Inland Fisheries Ireland and monitoring the output from its water boiler plant in the area.
Dúirt Uisce Eireann go bhfuil sé i dteagmháíl le hIascach Intíre Éireann agus ag déanamh monatóireachta ar an aschur as a ionad coireála uisce sa cheantar.
