12,441 people in emergency accommodation last month.
12,441 duine i lóistín éigeandála an mhí seo caite.
The number of homeless people has risen again.
Tá ardú tagtha arís ar líon na ndaoine gan dídean.
There were 12,400 in emergency accommodation last month, a record number.
Bhí 12,400 i lóistín éigeandála an mhí seo caite, an líon ab airde riamh.
Figures from the Housing Department show that 12,441 people were in emergency accommodation in May, including 3,699 children.
Léiríonn na figiúirí ón Róinn Tithíochta go raibh 12,441 duine in lóistín éigeandála i mí na Bealtaine, 3,699 leanbh san áireamh.
There was an increase of 182 people in the number of people in emergency accommodation in April, the month the ban on eviction of tenants was lifted.
Ardú 182 duine a bhí ann ar líon na ndaoine i lóistín éigeandála i mí Aibreáin, an mhí a cuireadh an cosc ar dhíshealbhú tionóntaí ar ceal.
Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien indicated that it is a cause for disappointment that there has been another increase in the number of homeless people, but, he said, there had been a much larger increase in the previous two months.
Thug an tAire Tithíochta Darragh O'Brien le fios gur cúis díomá atá ann go bhfuil ardú eile tagtha ar líon na ndaoine gan dídean, ach, a dúirt sé, bhí ardú i bhfad ní ba mhó i gceist sa dá mhí roimhe sin.
"I still believe we took the right decision to cancel the ban on eviction.
"Creidim go fóill gur ghlac muid an cinneadh ceart an cosc ar dhíshealbhú a chur ar ceal.
It was a difficult decision, but it was predicted at the time that tenants would face evictions.
Cinneadh deacair a bhí ann, ach bhíothas ag tuar ag an am go mbeadh rabharta díshealbhuithe i ndán do thionóntaí.
But that didn't happen in the end."
Ach níor tharla sé sin sa deireadh."
Minister O'Brien indicated that around 200 houses have been bought by local authorities and the tenants are still living in them since the beginning of the year.
Thug an tAire O'Brien le fios go bhfuil thart ar 200 teach ceannaithe ag údaráis áitiúla agus na tionóntaí fós ina gcónaí iontu ó thus na bliana.
"That scheme is going well", he said.
"Tá ag éirí go maith leis an scéim sin", a dúirt sé.
But he says there is still a lot of work to be done.
Ach deir sé go bhfuil go leor oibre fós le déanamh.
There is a shortage of houses available because not enough of them have been built in the last decade, he said.
Tá ganntanas tithe ar fáil ó tharla nár tógadh go leor acu le deich mbliana anuas, a dúirt sé.
