Marty Morrissey apologizes for borrowing a car.
Leithscéal gafa ag Marty Morrissey as carr a thógáil ar iasacht.
RTÉ Gaelic sports commentator Marty Morrissey has confirmed that he is the staff member in the organization who had a car on loan for five years without obtaining permission from RTÉ.
Tá sé dearbhaithe ag an tráchtaire cluichí Gaelacha le RTÉ Marty Morrissey gurb eisean an ball foirne san eagraíocht a raibh gluaisteán ar iasacht aige ar feadh cúig bliana gan cead a bheith faighte aige ó RTÉ.
RTÉ executive Adrian Lynch mentioned the matter at a Media Committee hearing yesterday but did not name the person involved.
Luaigh feidhmeannach RTÉ Adrian Lynch an scéal ag éisteacht den Choiste um Meáin inné ach níor thug sé ainm an té a bhí i gceist.
In a statement he issued this evening, Marty Morrissey said that it was and apologized for his indiscretion.
I ráiteas a d'eisigh sé tráthnóna, dúirt Marty Morrissey gurb é a bhí ann agus ghabh sé leithscéal faoina mhístuaim.
He claimed that he made an informal arrangement with Renault to borrow a car from the company after being the man of the house at several events they held in 2017.
Mhaígh sé go ndearna sé socrú neamhfhoirmiúil de mhaoil an bhaige le Renault carr a thógáil ar iasacht ón gcomhlacht tar éis dó bheith ina fhear an tí ag roinnt ócáidí a reáchtáil siad in 2017.
He confirmed that he had received permission from RTÉ to take part in those events and said that he had not been paid for them and, in fact, had not asked for any payment.
Dheimhnigh sé go raibh cead faighte aige ó RTÉ páirt a ghlacadh sna hócáidí sin agus dúirt nár íocadh é astu agus, go deimhin, nár iarr sé aon íocaíocht.
Instead, said Marty Morrissey, Renault offered to lend him a car and he accepted that offer.
Ina áit sin, arsa Marty Morrissey, thairg Renault carr a thabhairt ar iasacht dó agus ghlac sé leis an tairiscint sin.
He said he returned the car to Renault two weeks ago a few days after the controversy over certain payments made to presenter Ryan Tubridy came to light.
Dúirt sé gur thug sé an gluaisteán ar ais do Renault coicís ó shin cúpla lá tar éis don chonspóid faoi íocaíochtaí áirithe a tugadh don láithreoir Ryan Tubridy teacht chun solais.
The Muirgheasach also revealed that Renault has never asked him to do any publicity for the company on television, radio or any digital platforms.
Thug an Muirgheasach le fios freisin nár iarr Renault riamh air aon bholscaireacht a dhéanamh ar son an chomhlachta ar an teilifís, ar an raidió ná ar aon ardáin dhigiteacha.
