Dáíth MacGaphann waiting 2,000 days for a new heart.
Dáithí Mac Gabhann ag fanacht 2,000 lá le croí nua.
Dáithí Mac Gabhann, a seven-year-old boy from Belfast, has been waiting for a new heart for 2,000 days now.
Is le 2,000 lá anois atá Dáithí Mac Gabhann, buachaill seacht mbliana d'aois as Béal Feirste, ag fanacht le croí nua.
It is an unwanted milestone, but Dáíthí's father has seized the opportunity to draw public attention to his son's situation.
Cloch mhíle nár theastaigh atá ann ach tá an deis tapaithe ag athair Dháithí le aird an phobail a tharraingt ar chás a mhic.
It is not the first time that Dáíthí's case has been in the limelight.
Ní hé an chéad uair é ag cás Dháithí a bheith faoi iomrá.
In the beginning of the summer – as a result of a long campaign by his family – a new law was introduced in the North under which almost every adult who has died is now considered an organ donor.
I dtús an tsamhraidh – de thoradh fheachtas fada a mhuintire – tugadh isteach dlí nua sa Tuaisceart faoin mbreathnaítear anois ar bheagnach gach duine fásta atá tar éis bháis mar dheontóir orgán.
It is assumed that people would not mind their organs being used unless they had specifically indicated during their lifetime that they did not wish to donate them.
Glactar leis nár mhiste le daoine go mbainfí leas as a gcuid orgán mura raibh sé tugtha le fios go sonrach acu agus iad ina mbeatha nár mhian leo iad a dheonú.
The law was called 'Dlí Dáithí' in honor of the murderer.
'Dlí Dháithí' a tugadh ar an dlí in onóir an mhalraigh.
A week after the law was implemented, however, the MacGiffin family were informed that doctors were no longer to be included among the people they were prioritizing.
Seachtain i ndiaidh don dlí a bheith curtha i bhfeidhm, áfach, cuireadh in iúl do mhuintir Mhic Gabhann nach raibh dochtúirí le Dáithí a áireamh níos mó i measc na ndaoine a raibh siad ag tabhairt tús áite dóibh.
Fortunately, he has since been given priority again but he has withdrawn from his family how things could change so suddenly.
Ar ámharaí an tsaoil, tá tús áite tugtha dó an athuair ó shin ach bhain sé siar as a mhuintir an chaoi a bhféadfadh cúrsaí athrú chomh tobann.
In fact, Máirtín MacGaffann said today that Dáithí will not live long if he does not find a new heart.
Go deimhin, dúirt Máirtín Mac Gabhann inniu nach mairfidh Dáithí i bhfad mura bhfaighidh sé croí nua.
Dáithí is in a stable condition at the moment but things can change at a moment's notice, he said.
Tá bail sheasmhach ar Dháithí faoi láthair ach is feidir le cúrsaí athrú ar iompú boise, arsa sé.
Despite the new law, Máirtín MacGaffann appealed to people to register as organ donors and to discuss the situation openly with others in order to improve public awareness of the issue.
Ainneoin an dlí nua, d'achainigh Máirtín Mac Gabhann ar dhaoine clárú mar dheontóirí orgán agus an scéal a phlé go hoscailte le daoine eile d'fhonn feasacht an phobail trí chéile ar an gceist a fheabhsú.
In addition to Dáíth, up to 150 people in the North are waiting for a new organ.
Chomh maith le Dáithí, tá suas le 150 duine sa Tuaisceart ag fanacht le horgán nua.
Last year, 96 people in the north received new organs from donors who had died.
Anuraidh, fuair 96 duine ó thuaidh orgán nua ó dheontóirí a bhí básaithe.
Unfortunately, around fifteen people are lost each year in the North while waiting for a new organ.
Ar an drochuair, cailltear thart ar chúig dhuine dhéag gach bliain sa Tuaisceart agus iad ag fanacht le horgán nua.
