Wall Street is an industry mired in tradition and regulations. It has been a crucial part of America’s economy since its inception in 1792, less than 20 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
So how do you change an entire system that has spent hundreds of years defining its values? For Brad Katsuyama, CEO of the Investors Exchange (IEX), the solution was simple; build an entirely new system.
IEX was created in 2012 by Brad and his co-founders to serve as an alternative to the existing stock exchanges like NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange. The goal of IEX was simple, to level a playing field that has been rigged for over 200 years to favor a few privileged power brokers.
In this interview, Brad and Chad discuss how IEX is using new technologies to help investors and what they’re doing to make investing and the stock exchanges fair and straightforward for everyone, not just the elite.
