23: Stop The Comparing

Listen Later

Welcome to episode #23 of the peaceful power podcast today we are going to discuss how to stop the comparing.
I found myself at my local bank it wasn’t my usual bank and the teller said oh your a personal trainer. I said yep and he asked how I liked it I said I loved it. In the back of my head I wanted to tell him but I just had a baby 4 months ago. I was comparing myself to other woman who are trainers. I felt like I needed to make an excuse for myself and not looking “perfect”.
Model who snap chatted a naked lady in the locker room saying if I have to look at this so should you.
So those are two examples of woman comparing themselves. So why do we do this? I think a lot of this stems from all of our lives we compare ourselves. In school we ask our friends what grade they got on that test, playing sports your comparing yourself to your teammates and then opponents to see who is better. In middle school we start comparing our bodies as they develop at different rates. All of the comparing is so ingrained in our society. Is there a solution?
Here are a few ways I help to stop the comparison syndrome when it strikes me
Don’t follow woman who don’t seem to uplift other woman
Work on positive self talk
Mantras
Journaling to release past negativities or to journal about something that’s a reoccurring thought & why that might be happening.
We need to realize everyone is unique we all have gifts to offer. We will always resonate more with certain people than others. Accepting that and not judging or criticizing those who we might compare ourselves to. Judgement usually is given because we see something in them we want or have and want to get rid of.
So this week the challenge is to work on stopping the comparing and judging by unfollowing people who are not making you feel as positive and loving as you would like to in your daily life.
Go out there & spread your peaceful power.
