27. The queen of chill, Cyndi Ramirez, on how she created a new category for self-care and not subscribing to traditional business models

Listen Later

Cyndi is the founder and CEO of Chillhouse, which is a destination for modern self-care. Chillhouse was born when Cyndi and her husband, Adam, were looking to get massages one day and there were two options - to either get a ridiculously expensive massage and break the bank or get a massage at a questionable establishment where the ambiance was less than exciting - and they realized there was a huge gap in the market and a demand for what would soon become Chillhouse. Chillhouse, which currently has two locations in NY, offers new-age spa offerings like facials, massages, nail and pedicure services alongside a wellness cafe.

On today’s episode we talk about what Cyndi was like as a kid, how she dropped out of college, we get into her background in hospitality and her first businesses and side jobs, what it’s like to go into business with your husband or partner and how they establish boundaries, how she leveraged her first blog to network and connect with people who have now been integral to the success of Chillhouse, and what her hope is with the next phase of Chillhouse.
