In this episode, I’m sharing about how I was once in a cult, because it is so deeply foundational to my work.
Because now I have a very special gift of being highly allergic to high control environments.
I have a heightened sense of sniffing out anything that reeks of the psychological warfare that makes us stop trusting ourselves and learn helplessness.
In this episode, I talk about how those same dynamics can show up in the coaching and self-improvement world, especially through the misuse of "mindset work."
Mindset work can be powerful. It helped me realize my thoughts weren’t happening to me, and that I could unsubscribe from beliefs that no longer served me. But when a good tool is rooted in fear, shame, or avoidance of pain, it can easily become a weapon.
Press play to hear:
How mindset work can unintentionally invalidate real pain
The difference between Love-based and fear-based tools
Why “just changing your thoughts” often doesn’t work
How the mind can’t solve problems created at the same level of consciousness
Why fresh input—not more effort—is what actually creates change
I also share why I’ve come to trust energy-based and intuitive practices that bypass the conscious mind and speak directly to the body, the unconscious, and what I simply call Love.
If you’ve ever felt stuck in mental loops, exhausted by self-improvement, or confused about why the tools that should be working aren’t helping you, this episode is for you!
You’re not broken. You don’t need to try harder. You might just need a different kind of input.
At the end of the episode, I share more about Letters from Love, a simple devotional writing practice that offers exactly that.
