On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we discuss three areas that Dean Evason can improve on as a coach for the 2023-24 season! We start by discussing overall lineup construction. We point to examples such as Sam Steel of players who were put into spots and were kept there even when they weren't producing at an adequate level. We try to walk the line between not wanting to tinker when things are going well and not making changes when they aren't, such as in the postseason the last two seasons. We move onto discussing young players that will need an opportunity to show what they can do, such as Marco Rossi, Calen Addison and Brock Faber, while also being allowed to grow as players without fear of being pulled from the lineup. We look at how the Rossi and Addison situations were handled, and why they won't be the only young players that make the NHL roster this season. We finish by talking about overall discipline, and accountability for players who commit too many penalties not directly related to fighting. We discuss overall team discipline as it relates to special teams.
