Let us know what you think of this episode with a text!

This week’s episode is a mix of nostalgia and commentary that covers the expanse of grand-parental interior design, dentistry and the need to return to a balanced approach of dealing with violence and human confrontation. The boys also discuss how some of the conditions of our current social construct have helped to remove the realities of accountability and simply “doing what’s right.”

Will discusses his police roots, his eventual transition to academia and some of his experiences from both of these often-polarized worlds. He hopes to better educate the public and the police on the facts behind some of the most controversial cases involving race and policing in the United States.

  • The Difficult Conversation about Police Suicide

Let us know what you think of this episode with a text!

On this episode, Scott and Shaun welcome Officer “Sus”  to begin the difficult conversation surrounding police suicide. Sus and the boys discuss some of the conditions both inside and outside of the profession that, in some cases, places police officers at a 60% higher chance of taking their own lives than any other profession. Police Officers also die by their own hands at twice the rate they do by that of violent offenders. In the United States, Police Officers in small to midsize agencies will witness approximately 188 critical incidents during a 20-year career, while the average person only experiences 1 in their lifetime.

Sus is a cop that comes from a family whose history is steeped in law enforcement, so he understands this problem both historically and from the current conditions that the police face. He offers credible experience, study and advice regarding this often-ignored fixture of the profession. He also discusses some of the more effective tools, such as Peer Support, that are currently being utilized within the profession to help remove the stigma of asking for help.

  • All in the First Responder Family with Michelle Fayed of the Florida Firefighter Safety & Health Collaborative

Let us know what you think of this episode with a text!

This week, 3CT welcomes our first guest from the Fire Service, Fire Fighter Paramedic Michelle Fayed. We immediately launch into the well-established Police vs Fire “sibling rivalry” that exists within the first responder family.  Throughout the show, Michelle humorously proves herself a worthy rival (and sister) as she misses no opportunity to tease her older “cop” brothers in describing both the professional and personal experiences that helped to make her the dedicated medic, fire fighter and mental health trainer that she is today. She also discusses her work and resources within the realm of mental health and resiliency for those in the fire service. This episode is good “family” fun and shows that despite the rivalry, cops and fire fighters have more in common than they may think.

  • Interpreting Police Statistics with Bob Scales of Police Strategies LLC, Part 2

Let us know what you think of this episode with a text!

On this week’s episode, we are again joined from Seattle by the CEO of Police Strategies LLC, Bob “Bobby Stats” Scales. We pick up from Episode 64 and examine how the current lack of useable data to analyze use-of-force incidents undermines the message and mission of  many police agencies in the United States.

We then discuss how more in-depth use-of-force data evaluation is desperately needed to help counter the inaccurate third-party analyses that have often been presented as “factual” by the mainstream media.

Bob also provides us with some details on how a large, nationally known police agency has recently decided to contract with Police Strategies to proactively track and analyze their use-of-force statistics and how this should be an excellent model for other police agencies to follow.

  • Drawing on Your Talents with Officer Joseph Arnold

Let us know what you think of this episode with a text!

This week, the boys from 3CT are joined by Police Officer and professional animator, Joseph Arnold, to help promote his artistic contribution to the soon to be released fictional graphic novel, The Thin Blue Line. Joe and the guys discuss his personal, professional and artistic experiences and how these all helped to shape his participation in this unique project.  We also learn how Joe worked with award winning writer Mike Baron, best known for his acclaimed contributions to Marvel Comics' The Punisher, DC's The Flash and Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars series.

Joe’s artistic talent and his knowledge of police work are extremely useful in visually portraying the experiences of most police officers and the people that we serve. He also explains how our listeners can obtain copies of The Thin Blue Line and help to provide additional support to this largely unprecedented form of community education and entertainment.

    Guest Bio:
Joseph Arnold’s fascination with comic book heroes and their stories began when he was just young man. This allure also awoke a love of drawing that allowed him to create unique characters, narratives, and worlds full of adventure.

To live his own adventure, Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army immediately after high school and served on active duty for five years in the 82nd Airborne Infantry. After completing his service, Joseph returned home to obtain a degree in Media Arts and Animation from The Art Institute of Colorado, all while working full-time in service to his community. Joe eventually became a law enforcement officer in Northern Colorado, helping those in need whenever possible.

His artistic talents have also allowed Joe to work for Disney Create studios, and he continues to provide art and animation for various projects including comic books and games.

  • How We Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Virus

Let us know what you think of this episode with a text!

This week’s episode brings the boys back together for the first time in 2022! Sergeant Scott discusses, of his own free will, his personal bout with the dreaded virus and how it sidelined him for everything from work, holiday festivities and even….sweets.

The conversation then focuses on the need for the world to embrace COVID and learn to live with it. 3CT discusses the idea that the sooner we humans embrace the virus, the sooner we can get back to our normal existence and destroy it…. Like we’ve pretty much done with everything else this century!
