    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION
I know that I am a bit provincial, although I have travelled a lot, however, underneath I am provincial. Whatever, I'll tell you what happened. Our hotel in Kyoto is actually a boudoir. We upgraded from the room in Tokyo that was tiny, like ten square meters, but I'm not exaggerating ten square meters.

Here in Kyoto, our hotel room is one space with a very large room, one bathroom, another, another space. And then there's the private onsen, the onsen is ... You know these stone tubs here though there's also the jacuzzi and you take a shower before you get in there, of course, and there's not only the colour therapy that they change all the lights and so on and so forth but in front of the jacuzzi there's also embedded a television screen. But it doesn't end there!
Then twenty thousand towels, twenty thousand things, a hundred thousand creams, the mask, which I have already used, not only the hair dryer, but also the straightener, which I of course do not use, but whatever, they are available if anyone wants to use them.

And then of course the Japanese heated toilet with the lid, with the shower, with the bidet, but I don't even mention that one.

The funny thing is that this is a hotel for adults, which we didn't know! Here is this giant bed, but really big, big, and then on the two sides of the bedside table, on one side there is a thing that looks like a blender and it vibrates, but it's not a blender, I swear to you it's attached with electricity and it has all the covers that you put on it made of rubber, latex for hygienic issues, with lots of lubricants and so on.

And on the other side of the bed, in the other nightstand. I'm going there now. Instead, there is another contraption that this one I think people may as well take home because inside a little plastic box with batteries and this one also serves adults then what is there?

Yes, there is a cabinet you open it and there is a kind of dispenser where you put coins and you take things. So, there are lubricants, underwear, clothes for transforming, cross-dressing, underwear, I don't know if they are clean or dirty, because I know that in Japan there are also certain, they like certain things. Then there is a slot machine! We have a slot machine in the room that you can put coins in, you can play, and we have a couch.

Whatever, of course then there's the minibar, but everybody has that, that's it. Unbelievable, unbelievable, there is then a giant screen that lè to television and you can even connect your phone if you want.

In short, we are bashful, and tomorrow they bring breakfast to our room.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 676 Stile Giapponese

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

If someone were to ask what is Japanese style? I would certainly answer: it is a very dry style, very strict, very restrained colours as well, so a lot of grey, a lot of black, a lot of beige, and I would have a point.

Effectively walking through the streets of Tokyo feels like being inside a Japanese movie, because people are dressed exactly as one imagines them to be.
So, I've noticed one thing, that women use a lot of pinafores with long-sleeved shirts underneath, but also with sweaters, I mean just everywhere, everywhere you turn there are women with these pinafores, always very sober, with very simple lines, very long also, going well beyond the calf.

And even when younger people are dressed in ways that are a little bit stranger, in ways that are a little bit more flamboyant, it always looks like they came out of a movie because actually there is this incredible sophistication even in people who are dressed in the simplest ways.
I didn't see any scruffy people, I'm kind of generalising, but kind of like when you generalise by saying ah! Italians dress well. Which then whatever, there would also be the question of what it means to dress well.

Yes, I noticed a great deal of attention in clothing and very few people dressed shabbily. The only ones I have seen dressed scruffily let's say are the tourists who immediately stand out precisely because you can see that they are dressed differently.

Now I think of our young people, our girls, how they dress in bright colours, these very flashy things, unlike here, apart from the fact that then almost no one has tattoos, however one thing I have to say that while there is so much attention to clothing, which is sought after, neat, there are some girls who look like they are going to the theatre in the 1950s and probably they are just going to school or to the office, there is little attention to shoes instead. Often you see people dressed very neatly, however you look down and maybe at the shoes a little bit not very neat, a little bit scuffed or not very clean, often a little bit misshapen.
It's something I've noticed, and since I'm in Japan I'm making it part of my 3-minute daily podcast.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 675 Senza coperto

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

As long as you live abroad, it is very easy to feel different from the tourists who frequent that place. But when you too are on vacation, so when you too no longer have any excuse as tourist you have encounters that sometimes, I'm not saying they are embarrassing, however they highlight aspects, some aspects IDK.
Whatever, cut it short. Last night we were in a part of Tokyo called Golden Gai that is very touristy, but really touristy also because it is very quaint. There are a couple of small streets a couple of small alleys however dense, dense, dense with small bars. Usually can fit a maximum of six people in these bars, so they are small, small rooms and there you go and drink, you chat, many of the people who run these bars speak English, so you also chat with the people who run these places.
Yesterday in one of these little bars I crossed paths with an American, and I feel sorry for Americans however they embody very well the stereotype that we often have when we think of Americans going out and, I mean they are kind of arrogant.
So imagine this very very small bar, you make the narrow, narrow, narrow stairs to get up to get there, there are very few things you can get there, very few liquor and a few beers, you can't eat. The owner, a very young guy, very nice, we make small talk, and then there's this American guy who does what? He complains, says the drinks cost too much compared to other places, which evidently everyone has already turned around, and what does the owner do? He says, look here it's true they cost a little bit more however we don't charge you the cover, because in these little bars they charge you otherwise the cover, and then ... Nothing there he starts to, he was trying to say something in Japanese however of course he didn't know Japanese, so it was quite awkward, for goodness sake , a reward for trying, however let's say that this American guy was taking up a lot of space, not only physically, I repeat it was a tiny place and he was big, also mentally. Whatever, I'm a tourist myself.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 674 Muovere folle

    TRASCRIZIONE [Eng. translation below]

Insieme a noi c'erano, boh, quanti saranno state? 5000 persone?

    TRANSLATION

There are people who can move the masses incredibly efficiently.
Not so long ago, while I was in Venice for the Biennale, there was a
tiny line, there must have been, boh, 50 people waiting to get in, these 50
people to enter took almost a quarter of an hour.
    They are now at the.
what is his name? Tokyo, at the Tokyo Mobility Show, and we waited a while for them to open the
gates, because the opening time was for 09:30, at exactly 09:30 they opened and
we bought this ticket that allowed us to get in earlier, let's say a little bit
Earlier, compared to other entry shifts.
Along with us there were, boh, how many must have been?
    5,000 people?
In short, a lot of people.
All of us standing there quietly, waiting.
Then at one point they opened the gates, I didn't see it because I was very
back and, again, we were about 5,000 and to get 5,000 people in, so check
the ticket and then they also looked inside our backpack, I'm not exaggerating, they
    took maybe 30 seconds.
It was an incredible, sudden thing.
Just as they opened the gates the crowd moved in unison, everyone had the
ticket in hand and everyone was advancing quietly without hindrance, there were
so many stations to enter, full of people with megaphones saying 'here right and
left', or at least I imagine they were saying 'left and right here' because
Of course, they spoke in Japanese.
It is full of volunteers who helped people in need, even now heard the cries
Of the megaphone inviting people to go left and right.
However, they can move crowds in an incredible way.
I stayed, that's something that really struck me, because moving crowds of
these dimensions so lightly and so casually also makes it clear that
, nothing they are good at organizing.
However, I'm now entering the Tokyo Future Show, no Tokyo Mobility Show, which I'll explain.
a little what it is, it used to be the Motor Show, which, however, has now become the fair of the
sustainability of new things, of technological innovations, it seems to be one of the most
great in the world and today is the last day, we arrived yesterday we took advantage
to buy the ticket even before we left because we didn't want to miss it.
And nothing now I will leave you because we are inside and I am going to explore.
Then I will let you know about the wondrous wonders that are there, that we have seen.

  • 3’ grezzi Ep. 673 Come dentro Midnight Tokyo

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

Midnight Tokyo is a television series that is on Netflix. Very simple, it lasts about twenty minutes, and each episode is very similar one to the other: there is this small place, but like imagine ten square meters, not even, where there is a gentleman who opens from midnight until dawn and prepares food for the patrons who go around Tokyo in those night hours.
Each one tells a story, and each episode is the story of one of these characters. I watched it for quite some time, partly because it is very relaxing, there are no stories who knows what, striking, it is all very, very quiet, very, very domestic.
Here, today I found myself inside an episode of Midnight Tokyo. I'm in Japan, I arrived IDK, a few hours ago, I'm here on vacation, and so it's clear that when you arrive in Japan, although I've been there before, however the impact is always , you want a little bit jet lag, this very long trip, then it was the first time I was travelling with a Chinese company that, for goodness sake, it's cheap, however it was like travelling by bus. I was used to taking these long, long, long, long trips on Emirates or at the limit on Thai, which was already a step down from Emirates, and literally this this Chinese company, again, it's cheap, however it's more or less like travelling by bus, so it was very, very uncomfortable, there was no entertainment, so the time was not passing anymore, anyway I arrived with a big jet lag, then they lost the suitcase, but it's not that they lost it, there was a mix-up, they bring it to us tomorrow at the hotel, they gave us some cash so we can go and buy our toothbrush and things like that.
And so a little bit tired, a little bit like that, still with the clothes on from when we left, we went for a walk in Shibuya, the neighbourhood of Tokyo, and there we ended up in this little cubbyhole that was smaller than my dining room, and I have a little house, there must have been not even ten square meters and there were these wonderful people, these young girls trying to chat with us in Italian, these gentlemen then really we were all cramped, cramped, cramped, we didn't fit in and it was super fun. By the way, they smoke inside the premises here, so there was also this air, a little bit of super transgression, however exciting, very exciting.

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]
    podcast_1699006866.mp3
Quindi sono qui in aeroporto a fare i 3 minuti grezzi 'on the go', in movimento.
Bene, passo e chiudo. Ci sentiamo tra breve, Non lo so. Tra un po', domani.

    TRANSLATION

Let's say I miscalculated the time, I didn't realise that these 3 minutes I would have to do from the airport, however, we are about to board and then once I'm on the plane I won't be able to check in and then I'll have a layover of several hours, but I don't even know what the time zone will be, forward, I'm travelling forward, so probably by the time I arrive it will be another day in the Italian time zone.
So I'm here at the airport doing the 3 minutes 'in movement,' on the go. I have to hold the phone close to my mouth because I don't have a microphone, so I can't even see actually how many minutes I've already recorded, 3 minutes have not yet passed .
From the noise you hear around me you can tell maybe the destination, however the stopover will be in China and then I will go on to Japan.
I should now turn the microphone away to see how much I recorded, here, I'm looking at it: just 1 minute and 8 seconds. Here, one thing I am realising is that I really have very little ability to estimate time.
I remember there was a game we used to play when we were kids that you would listen to a song, then you would stop the song and you would have to continue, or you would turn down the volume of the song, then you would have to continue and see then where you got to, if you could pick up exactly where you left off or at any rate if you could pick up along with the song, so you had kept the beat.
I am not very good at estimating the time I spoke, I spoke for 1 minute 47. I didn't realise that 3 minutes was so long. In fact, when I am at home in front of the computer, doing my thing, it seems that 3 minutes is neither too long nor too short. Now I'm getting quite long, not because I don't know what I have to say, but because I don't want to end up too long, so I have to look now and then, because the interface of this app is not done very well, in fact you can only see how many minutes if you look very closely. I am near-sighted as well, I am not wearing glasses and the screen I also put it quite dark, maybe I should have put more brightness to the screen, however now I don't want to touch anything, otherwise I will stop this recording as well.
Two minutes 38 will be, a little shorter these 3 minutes podcast, because now I will say goodbye. People are already lined up. I usually stand last in line, I have my seat assigned anyway, eh, it's not like anything happens, however people, some people like to stand in line from the beginning.
Well, over and out. Talk to you shortly, I don't know. In a little while, tomorrow.

Oroscopi, oroscopi, oroscopi.

Comunque ultimamente ho cominciato a ricredermi.

    Ep. 671 Oroscopi.mp3
Horoscopes, horoscopes, horoscopes. Raise your hand if you say 'I don't believe in horoscopes,' however, you then find the magazine with the horoscope for your sign and start reading it. Here, I am like that. I don't believe in horoscopes, however, if I get my horoscope I read it.
I am Aquarius, Aquarius, independent sign, etc. etc. There are studies, rather than studies, experiments that they have done, that have shown how, if I have you read a horoscope and say this is from your sign, you read it, it says Yes yes, I am indeed like that even though maybe I am having you read what is usually attributed to another sign.
But lately I've started to reconsider myself, not so much because I believe in astrology, divination, the stars, these things here, also because, if that were the case, if really the position of the stars determined my destiny, then an Aquarius born in Australia would have to be very different from an Aquarius born in Italy, because the constellations at that time, you're on another part of the globe, I don't know.

However, lately, I have begun to reconsider. Why? For another reason. Because I know, for certain, that what the mother eats when she is pregnant has an effect on the fetus and also on the brain development of the unborn child. So, without prejudice to this fact here, it is clear that what the mother eats when she is pregnant will determine some of the very character traits of the baby or the child, because, we know, everything we do is nothing but a chemical reaction, amino acids in the brain is a chemical reaction, and not so much now, but fifty, a hundred years ago pregnant women tended to eat only the things that were on the market because they were in season, back then tomatoes were eaten only in the summer, I remember that too when I was a child, and strawberries were eaten only when it is? May I don't remember.

So pregnant women ate only the seasonal fruits and all pregnant women at the same time ate the same things. So it may be that indeed the mother's food, taken during pregnancy, then has an effect, an impact on brain development, but also on the character of the unborn child. I don't know, this is a theory that came to my mind like this, I don't know if another person has already put it forward. I should do some research, honestly I don't care enough to do research recipes on it, I'll just throw it out there, so then you take whatever you want.

And by the way, Aquarius is a sign, it is an independent zodiac sign, and everyone knows that.

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION
I am trying to rebel against my gullibility. It is a strange term, I know, but there is an English term 'gullible,' which means precisely gullible, naive, stupid, that is, one who falls for it.
I am a person, let's say by and large quite shrewd, however, there are some things for which I am very 'gullible', very gullible and I fall for it. I am referring to the things that attack me from the Internet. In what sense do they attack me? That they force me to shift my attention from things that I should pay attention to, to things that are absolutely non-essential to my life and that I could easily do without.

What am I referring to more specifically? What do I know, I open the computer, because I work with the computer, look at emails, do my stuff, etc., and then in the browser I get an advertisement, what do I know, on YouTube: how to modify a sweater in seven steps, in seven ways to wear it in seven different ways. Who cares? Or how to bake a fluffy cake. I mean, you get what I'm referring to, things that divert my attention from what I'm supposed to be doing and lead me to follow the White Rabbit and I end up who knows where, three hours later I realise that holy crap, I wasted 3 hours for nothing and then I get frustrated because I wasted 3 hours.

However, I should not be so harsh on myself, because I am here alone, in front of the computer, and the people who create these things that get my attention, they use the best logarithms and psychological techniques for which they pay, to put them into practice, to find out what they are, to use these tools, they pay the best minds in applying persuasion.

This is also kind of what happens with video games, that parents pick on their children, they say but why don't you stop playing video games? They don't realise that these boys and girls, and even adults, are fighting an unequal war against these people who use the very sophisticated things of psychology, persuasion, in short, all these things here very technical, it's clear that you alone can't counter them.

Anyway, I've got a lot of stuff to do because I'm leaving in a few days, so I'm going to try to get my head down and ignore all the things that Internet throws at me, things that I don't need, don't need, don't need and can do without.

    TRASCRIZIONE [Eng translation below]

    TRANSLATION

Has it happened to you, too: you phone an office or something official and they put you
    on hold with music.
I don't know who chooses the tunes to use when you are on hold, I know
that there is a whole industry of people who have studied how to divide the various
steps that are often nothing more than a way for the person to take their time, when
For example, there is only one person in charge of answering the phone, and so, in order not to make the
callers feel abandoned, you get the impression anyway that you have entered
within a system and that someone will take care of us sooner or later.
Do you remember when there were no answering machines, when there weren't all these
services? You dialled the number, if the person was already talking to someone
else, the sound was busy: toot, toot, toot, toot, the sound of a busy phone.
We were not forced to leave messages and we were not forced to stay
    on hold.
Again, I know there is a whole industry behind who creates this music and these
systems, I know because I happened to work in an institution and for months, months, if not
years, I worked alongside this company that was supposed to make this super modern
system that then this organization never completed.
I remember these long talks with people, though, we were trying to break down the various
steps and so on, and even talked about the type of music, however, the music that you
could choose, let's say, is very limited, restricted by copyright and
especially the entities that I happen to contact, but also medical practices, often
have this pseudo-classical music repeated endlessly, played
in an unremarkable way and often when I'm there, sometimes I stay even 30, 40, 50
minutes, anyway, I'm not telling you anything new, nothing you haven't already
experienced first hand, so I'm thinking: what could be an approach that also makes
the wait time, I won't say pleasant, but not so obnoxious, because usually
then I put the speaker on and get on with other things, it's not like I'm just hanging there with the
phone to the ear, also because then the phone heats up and I don't think it's a
a very healthy thing. Here, I propose then, I make myself available to create a series of
podcasts, soundscapes, sound settings to make waiting on the phone
definitely more pleasant, more enjoyable, and then also create some surprise.

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

I don't know what causes me to like one flavor over another, to like coffee without sugar, and to like sour and bitter flavors.

This is also reflected when I go to the supermarket to choose, say, cookies. I don't eat a lot of sweets, that's another characteristic, I'm not crazy about sweets, I prefer salty things, spicy things, however, I do eat sweets from time to time too.

My problem is that for some reason, I don't know whether in the mists of time, or more recently, some inspired advertiser decided that all the cookies for sale in the supermarket have the same flavors which are 4 or 5.

So there are milk cookies, there are chocolate cookies, there are hazelnut cookies, what else is there then? Honey, every now and then you find something apple, fig, hazelnut and all the hard nuts, and very, very rarely you find citrus cookies.

I like citrus very much, I like the sour flavors and there is a brand of cookies, no-brand cookies, the ones that is the brand of the supermarket, that I occasionally find, these very normal cookies, I'm talking about dry cookies, the very ones that you dip in the latte, even though I don't drink latte, anyway you know what I mean, so cookies that cost very little, from 2€ to 3€ the pack, I'm not talking about top market.

When sometimes I find them, then I stock up, then there is also another brand, again of cheap cookies, that have this line flavoured carrot and orange or lemon, when I find them, then I hoard.

That's it, I don't understand why we insist on making cookies all hazelnut, chocolate, cocoa, honey, milk flavoured, but always the same. Why don't you make chestnut cookies? That's it, I've never seen chestnut cookies, which I don't even like, I find them very so, they bind your mouth, anyway I say why not make chestnut cookies, make tangerine cookies, make cookies, what do I know, peach cookies, why there are no peach-flavored or strawberry-flavored cookies ? I don't know.

I'll throw it out there: if there is anyone listening who is involved in the creation of new cookie flavors, let's try to get out of hazelnut, chocolate and honey. Do me this favor.
