On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we dive headfirst into a few ways to improve the Wild Power Play in 2023-24! We start with avoiding predictability, especially in the instance of zone entries. The Wild relied too heavily on drop passes as the season wore on, and really never developed a counterattack when teams began to focus more on preventing them from entering the zone. We take a look at what Toronto and Florida do that separates them from the Wild. We discuss personnel, with the top Power Play unit pretty intact yet room to make changes on the second unit. A focus on speed could help improve results from a basically unusable 2nd unit last year. We finish by discussing the need for movement and precision, whereas the Wild have a tendency to hunker down and operate on the perimeter as opposed to moving and attacking.
