Here with Mythologist Gabriela Gutierrez, we venture into herstory, the pre-patriarchal world. She speaks of the times when female divinity was an animistic cosmology, where we exist in a greater soul than our own.

There was indeed a time when women's religious authority was centred and officially seen as sacred. And it needs to return, for the benefit of all living things. When religious ideologies fail to centre the divinity of the Feminine, the collective stops viewing everything as sacred. What I love about this conversation is the emphasis on the Feminine as the soul of life, and of nature, beyond the human world.

BIO

Gabriela Gutierrez is a Spanish–Welsh writer, poet, ritualist, beekeeper, and scholar of myth and religion. She revives ancient knowledge and an animistic worldview, sharing field research on her Substack, Under a Fig Tree, and teaching courses that braid scholarship with embodied practice. Her work brings together somatics, animism, imagination, myth, ritual, ecology, and prehistory.

She holds an MA in the Poetics of Imagination, with specialised continuing education at the University of Oxford and Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her book on the priestess tradition is forthcoming with Shambhala Publications, and her poetry appears in Clarion Poetry Magazine.
