Has tipping culture gotten out of control recently?

We’ve always had a strong tipping culture in the U.S. but recently the conversation surrounding tipping has gotten more heated. It would appear that I’m not the only one who has noticed an influx of businesses utilizing a tip prompt or option at checkout that never had that option beforehand.
