  • Authentic leadership and what it means to leave the mask behind with Nicola Connelly Byrne

Do you lead authentically or do you leave your true self at home?

It’s hard as a woman in leadership sometimes as we think we have to have our professional persona and leave our real selves at home.

But when you do that, you cannot lead authentically. You will never truly be in your flow and never really be happy.

No matter how many masks you wear or faces you put on, you are never going to be able to please everybody.

So it is time to allow yourself the freedom to live authentically, be it in work or at home.

Today we will be discussing authentic leadership and being yourself, and there is no one better to chat about this with than empowerment specialist, Nicola Connolly Byrne.

    You'll learn:

    • What does it mean to be ‘in your flow?’
    • How can you allow love into our lives?
    • How can you create a more authentic workplace?
    • What happens when you wear a mask and aren’t your true self?
    • How you can get past the fear of standing up for what you believe in

  • Daily Affirmations To Shift To A Positive Mindset

Affirmations are positive phrases or statements used to change unhelpful thoughts in your mind.

Daily practice has been scientifically proven to create new neurological pathways in the brain and shift your thinking. You'll never speak to anyone as much as you do in your own head, so it's important you choose your words carefully. You become what you think.

Practicing positive affirmations is extremely simple and powerful.

All you need to do is pick one or a few statements and repeat them to yourself daily, saying them with passion and belief (even if you don't believe them yet!)

The best time to do this is in the morning as you wake up and at night before you go to sleep, as this is when you're subconcious mind is most active!

Do you ever find yourself shrinking like Alice in Wonderland in the presence of that certain someone?

Or maybe you get angry and frustrated and explode only to regret it later? You are totally normal! This happens to all of us, but it's important you understand the ego states that live within you to bring more harmony in your career and life.

In this private podcast episode, I share a model based on the Transactional Analysis (TA) OK-OK model. TA believes that we have three different states or ways of being during interactions, which are; the child ego state, the parent ego state, and the state of adult (Berne, 1957)

This is a must listen if you want to learn how you can become more assertive and less intimidated!

  • Stop overthinking and worry using the OTT method

90% of our thoughts are actually negative and 70-80% of the thoughts you have are the same as yesterday. Wild right?!

I developed the OTT Method based on a positive psychology tool called Worry time.

Our brains have a negative bias as it's number one function is to protect you, ensuring your survival. Worry happens when there is a threat to your safety or that of someone you care about. This may be physical safety or mental safety.

But have you ever noticed that many things you worry about don't actually come true?

Both are a waste of your energetic life force so it's time to understand what is causing them.

Use the OTT Method I share in this episode to document your worry's for 7 days and see if you can spot any patterns.

Then use these 5 questions and journal at the end of each day

    1. What was I most worried about today?
    2. What’s really behind that worry?
    3. What other way could I look at this?
    4. What could I do that would make me less worried/anxious?
    5. What empowering comittment am I making to myself now?

Examples of common worries for women in leadership and how to reframe them:

I am worried my team are overloaded -> I am doing my best with the resources I have and support them to the best of my ability and that is good enough

When children run I am worried they will fall and hurt themselves -> I do my best to keep them safe but I ultimately I cannot control everything
