Heather Pringle, science writer with a passion for archeology, tells the story of Europeans  who, over four thousand years ago, migrated to western China. Archaeologists assumed that these isolated finds were just a few lost travelers. Then In the 1970s, construction work revealed hundreds of Western-looking human remains—many mummified-- and their artifacts and domesticated animals. The latest dated to the Silk Road, at 500, A.D.  The earliest arrived in the Bronze Age, 4,000 years ago.  These controversial finds spent decades hidden in the back rooms of museums until recently.

Heather Pringle says she enjoys her work as a writer, and the out of the way places it takes her, and the memorable encounters with both the living and the dead.
