The following issues are discussed by Dayan Raskin in this week’s episode:

1) Our Shul hot-water urn is plumbed into the mains; when hot water is drawn from the faucet, a similar amount of cold water is released into the hot-water tank. Usually we isolate the inflow for Shabbos. This Shabbos, the inflow wasn’t shut until several people had drawn hot water. May one use the rest of water on Shabbos?[1]

2) My Tefilin were discovering to have a word missing. Is there any Mitzvah value in my donning those Tefilin until the error was discovered? [2]

3) When eating a peach on Shabbos, may I remove the stone manually or is it Muktzah?[3]

4) A Giyores’s non-Jewish father – a devout Catholic – came for a visit. She served him a loaf of home-baked bread. The father proceeded to recite a prayer upon the loaf, invoking you-know-who. May she and her husband enjoy the remainder of the loaf? [4]

5) When reciting Shema we sometimes repeat three words to make a total of 248 words, corresponding to a man’s 248 limbs. Do women also add the three words?[5]

6) May a mourner ר"ל interrupt his reciting the brochos of the Shema to say Kaddish? [6]

7) Is there an ‘expiry date’ to Birkas haGomel? I travelled more than a month ago, but only came to a minyan today.[7]

8) When donning Rabenu-Tam Tefilin, we also recite the third chapter of the Shema, even though it’s not one of the four passages in the Tefillin. Why do we do so?[8]

9) Is whipped-cream a liquid (in the context of Netilas Yodayim for foods dipped in it)?[9]

10) Why do many men remove the cardboard cover when donning the Hand-Tefilin?[10]
