(Shiur begins at 5:18)
A weekly shiur by Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin, Rov of Anash in London, explores interesting Torah questions and halachic dilemmas.
1) Explanation on the poem of Geshem, related to this week’s Sedra:[1]
2) I started out as Chazan for Shacharis, and – thinking that there was no ‘chiyuv’ present – I began to say Kaddish deRabonon. But then a ‘chiyuv’ began saying that Kaddish. May I stop short or must I finish saying the Kaddish?[2]
3) Re. the paragraph א-ל ארך אפים said on Mondays and
4) One travelling this past Monday afternoon from NY to Hong Kong. By the time he lands it will be Tuesday night. Does he miss Rosh Chodesh prayers totally?[4]
5) May Tzitzis be braided by children? By a man whose Jewish status is unclear?[5]
6) I want to purchase Israel Bonds. Do I have to concerned for Ribis?[6]
7) Chabad custom is to say לשם יחוד only once a day - just before ברוך שאמר. Why in that particular place and why only once? [7]
8) What is the relevance of the two verses flanking מים אחרונים?[8]
9) In the after-brocho for Hallel the word על appears in brackets, implying that it is not said. So, why is it there? This reminds me of the verses of ושמרו on Friday night. I know the story told - that the Alter Rebbe placed it there in order to placate the Berditchever Rov`s grandson.
10) After Hallel we recite two verses. What is the proper way to say them: the 1st verse X3, then the 2nd verse X3; or, both verses together X3? [9]
