Brittany Higgins is back in the headlines taking aim at the the Queensland Government saying they are abandoning women.

The Government has shelved reforms on workplace safety and protection which has drawn the criticism of Shannon Fentiman.

The Shadow Treasurer told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "I think this new government does have a women's problem."

The Reserve Bank will meet today in what will be the new board's second ever meeting.

The markets are predicting a 25 basis point cut, but it could be the only cut for the rest of the year.

9News Money Editor Effie Zahos told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "The big issue here has been inflation and even though that has eased somewhat, the last numbers, that didn't say that inflation's going down."

"Until we get wages up to date with that, we are going to continue to struggle."

Iva Davies and Icehouse to headline new Night at the Parkland event

Iva Davies and Icehouse join the star-studded lineup for the first-ever Night at the Parkland series on September 5th.

The event is set to transform Roma Street Parklands for seven concert nights over two weeks, headlining some of Australia’s most talented artists.

Icehouse frontman Iva Davies told 4BC’s Peter Fegan “when I see a list of people like that I know it’s going to be incredible”.

The iconic artist also revealed his surprising taste in music.

“For me to have a pleasurable listening experience I’m probably going to listen to Bach or Beethoven,” he said.

Australia’s potential free trade agreement with the European Union is back in the spotlight after they failed two years ago.

Europe wanted to lock in protections for names like prosecco, feta and parmesan and Australia said no deal, but now the EU might be willing to compromise. 

The PM has raised this issue directly with EU Commission President during talks in Rome. 

National Farmers’ Federation President David Jochinke told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "It's going to cost the dairy industry in the realm of nearly $95 million a year just rebranding itself for the next decade to get back to where we should be."

The RACQ has released Queensland’s most dangerous roads.

Topping the list is the Mount Glorious Tourist Drive which has seen 59 fatal crashes between 2019 and 2023.

RACQ Road Safety and Technical Manager Joel Tucker told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "Your hinterland roads aren't designed with a lot of the other safety features."

"They don't have divided traffic, there's no centre barriers and things like that to prevent head-ons."

"So rider behaviour and driver behaviour becomes really, really important on these types of roads because there is very little margin for error," Mr Tucker said.
