  • Queenslanders urged to 'park their egos' with 2025 road toll already higher than record-breaking 2024

Queensland lost 302 lives on the roads in 2024, the worst in 15 years.

Already this year the road toll is at 23 which is 5 more than this time last year.

Acting Chief Superintendent Garrath Channells from the Road Policing and Regional Support Command told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "We're seeing sadly all the same trends that we have for many, many years, still having significant impact on the way that our motorists and our driving community are using the roads."

"We can't do it on our own and we're appealing to the community to do their part," Acting Chief Superintendent Channells said.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Janelle Andrews told Peter Fegan, "My message is simply that the fast, the furious and the frustrated need to park their egos."

"If they can't park their ego and keep it off the road, park your car and catch public transport."

Peter Fegan has weighed in on 4BC Breakfast on what Anthony Albanese's legacy will be as Prime Minister if he is to lose the upcoming Federal Election.

"All the while Alice Springs was burning, there has been a rise in Antisemitism and we were all confused on the Government’s position on the conflict in Gaza."

  • Real estate agents in the spotlight over housing unaffordability in million dollar suburbs

House prices in Brisbane are skyrocketing at an alarming rate with one Mt. Gravatt three bedroom shack sold for $1.4 million.

In 2018, homes in Mt Gravatt were sold for around $400,000, raising questions about why prices are so high now and when affordable starter homes began costing millions.

REIQ CEO and Real Estate expert Antonia Mercorella told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "The reason that we're seeing these prices is because we've just done such a poor job of maintaining the supply we need to meet the demand."

"There is immense pressure on the established housing market."

"We're not building enough new homes, so when a property comes onto the market, the level of interest, the level of demand is extraordinary," she said.

  • 'Absolutely disgusting': Ex-defence force chief lands cushy diplomatic posting

Ex-defence force chief Angus Campbell will become Australia’s ambassador to Belgium and be based in Luxembourg despite overseeing one of the most scandal-plagued eras in ADF history.

Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "Why are we doing this in this country when you've [Angus Campbell] got no leadership, but we continually put you up there and give you those plum jobs."

"How does that make others feel that are working their guts out out there?"

"You can destroy anyone's family, but we'll still promote you, this man should be put out to pasture," Jacqui Lambie said.

  • 'Why is he backing down': Councillor Paul Tully pulls motion to silence Mayor

Peter Fegan has had say on 4BC Breakfast on the latest developments in the Ipswich City Council's move to place a media gag on Mayor Teresa Harding with both Councillor Paul Tully and Andrew Antoniolli dodging questions on the matter.

He said, "One would think that if you’re going to come in and declare you’re going to move a motion to silence the Lord Mayor of one of the country’s largest city councils, you would at least make sure you have the support."

"And if he did, why is he backing down?"
