  • Has Peter Dutton gone Green? Unlikely alliance forming to block international student cap

Peter Dutton has declared that he will join the Greens in an attempt to block the  Federal Government's plan to put a cap on international students.

Senator Jane Hume told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'we actually think international students caps are a good idea, but the legislation that the government has put forward, we think could actually make the problem worse.'

'If you put caps on one part of the system, then problems will just pop up in another, because the system itself is chaotic and confused,' she said.

  • Was it a just trial? Why Brisbane Metro has been cancelled and when will it return

The highly anticipated Brisbane Metro has been halted just four weeks after its launch, with the Brisbane City Council in negotiations with the state government over several ongoing teething issues.

Brisbane Metro might return next year, but the future of the $1.5 billion project is still uncertain.

There has been widespread criticism of the council for running the Brisbane Metro as a trial, but not telling the public.

Councillor Ryan Murphy told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "Perhaps we've failed in communicating that clearly, I accept that and I apologise to anyone who feels that they've been misled."

  • 'It will make children more unsafe': Why one professor opposes the social media age limit

Anthony Albanese's plan to impose an age limit on social media use has generally received positive feedback from both politicians and the public.

However, one expert strongly opposes the idea, arguing that it could make children even more vulnerable.

Professor Amanda Third told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "By evicting children from social media, we are giving those companies [social media platforms] no incentive to design for children and we need much better fine-grained, strong regulation to really ensure that we can keep children safe online."
