Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced a price gouging taskforce to crackdown on supermarkets taking advantage of consumers.

Consumer Expert and author of "Easy Money" Joel Gibson told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "I think the ACCC had a bit of a bet each way and the government's now saying, well, we need some laws to outlaw excessive pricing because we don't have those laws at the moment."

"It is illegal to abuse your market power if you're a business, but not to charge excessive prices," Mr. Gibson said.

"Will it have a major impact on the price of your groceries?"

"I don't think so unfortunately," Mr. Gibson continued.

Queensland is at the forefront of evolving police strategies for dealing with domestic violence, with the 'Make DV a Crime' petition led by the Queensland Police Union playing a crucial role in this progress.  

Queensland Police Union President Shane Prior told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "We started this petition on the 13th of February, closed on Friday and Queenslanders have spoken."

“50,000 Queenslanders have said enough is enough.”

"If you review e-petitions in the past, that will be amongst some of the best that this state has ever had, but it demonstrates that Queenslanders have had enough of the current state of domestic violence," Mr. Prior said.

Outback Queensland has experienced a year's worth of rain in just six days with the rain to continue to fall over the weekend.

An emergency alert was issued this morning for the region with swift water rescue crews airlifted in from Charleville to help evacuate residents and the Premier also arrived in Winton last night.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, "There's predictions that the Thompson River will hit about eight and a half metres, that is uncharted territory."

David Crisafulli also confirmed that he will be looking into getting Western Queensland a rain radar saying the current situation is "unacceptable."
