A multinational architecture firm aims to steer the debate over Brisbane's stadium plans in a new direction with an ambitious proposal to transform a Bowen Hills industrial site into a lively stadium hub.

But to deliver the vision, Queensland Rail’s Mayne Yard which currently occupies about 21 percent of Bowen Hills would have to be moved out of the inner-city.

The man behind the proposal, Stuart Dow from architecture firm Wilkinson Eyre told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "There's a fantastic piece of land in inner city Brisbane that at the moment is being utilised for an industrial purpose and in the long-term aspirations of most cities you'd want to turn that into something spectacular for future generations to enjoy."

The powers of modern medicine mean that the spread of diseases like the Bubonic Plague are well and truly in the past but health experts are warning that we should be mindful of antibiotic resistance.

Infectious diseases expert from the University of QLD, Professor Paul Griffin told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "There's a lot of problems with antibiotic resistance, and if that trend continues some of these germs may become very difficult or even impossible to treat."

Wildfires continue to decimate Los Angeles as tens of thousands have been forced to evacuate.

Nine News US Correspondent Jonathan Kearsley told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "We've just had confirmation from the sheriff that the death toll from one of these fires has risen to five."

We’ve been watching apocalyptic scenes across the world as dangerous wildfires rip through LA.

So far the wildfires have killed two people, destroyed 1000 homes, and forced 70,000 residents to evacuate.

Actor, director, and founder of the American Arts Film & Television Academy Jessica Orcsik is an Australian living in LA. Ms. Orcsik told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "It is thick, thick black smoke. it felt like we were in the middle of a huge storm."

"The devastation is just huge... I've never seen anything like it," Ms. Orcsik continued.

Every new year brings new milestones for everyone whether it's sending the kids off to school for the first time or moving into retirement, people can often think 'where has the time gone' or 'there's so much more to do', which can lead to a mid-life crisis.

Psychologist Dr Marny Lishman told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "We've got the world, literally at our fingertips, and we're getting irritated about that."

"So, I say to people, first and foremost, if you're getting grumpy and irritable about everything and your body's aching and grinding a little bit, listen to that because your body and mind are whispering things to you."Dr Lishman continued.

La Niña, the cold and wet counterpart to El Niño, typically develops during the winter months before diminishing in the later part of the year. However, for only the second time in 75 years, it is poised to hit in the middle of summer.
