The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has revealed recently that Aussies could save up to $300 on their energy bills if they just shopped around for a better deal.

David Koch from Compare the Market told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "Just with your own energy retailer, there can be hundreds of dollars in savings, let alone going and comparing it with other energy retailers."

Academics at the University of Melbourne, University of Sydney and University of New South Wales have published research that has uncovered some interesting findings relating to the behaviour of companies, and their CEOs during the global COVID-19 Pandemic.

Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, Danika Wright told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "On average, CEOs who were taking big salary cuts actually had no decline in their entire compensation."

The final report from the 100-day Olympic infrastructure review is due to be finalised on the 8th of March this year as many wait with bated breath to know the outcome. 

One group particularly interested in the outcome of this review is the Save Victoria Park action group.

The future of the Magic Millions Carnival on the Gold Coast this weekend hangs in the balance as part of the Bundall racetrack has been poisoned.

The track poisoning has resulted in the inaugural twilight meet to be pushed to the Sunshine Coast and now the Gold Coast Turf Club are working around the clock to get the track right in time for the big race this Saturday.

CEO of the Gold Coast Turf Club, Steven Lines told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, "At this point in time, we're confident that we can get it up and running."

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will today travel to Queensland where he will pledge to feed $7.2 billion of investment into fixing the Bruce Highway, which will lift the entire 1673km stretch of road to a minimum three-star safety rating.

There have been 43 deaths on the major road this year - far above the five-year average of 31.

Federal Member for Flynn Colin Boyce told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, 'This is only a start; it will cost a lot more than that.'

"Everybody needs to realise that whilst the Bruce Highway served its purpose, it was never designed to carry the amount of traffic that it does today, and that's why it needs some serious upgrades," he continued.
