Welcome back to another sweaty episode of 5 O'Clock Sweats! 

In this week's episode, The Sweats bless their audience with another "catch up" episode since they didn't have anything specific to talk about. As with the last "catch up episode," the Sweats go around the horn and discuss what they have been up to recently. Ryan kicks things off by discussing his experience playing Starfield, and if he is having fun with the polarizing game, or if the well-documented complaints are valid enough to ruin his playthrough. Chris starts getting into the Halloween mindset by discussing some horror movies he's been watching, including the original Saw in anticipation for the new one coming to theaters, and if the gore in some horror movies, such as Terrifier, is way too much. Chris also touches on football season so far, specifically his fantasy team and some players that haven't lived up to the hype so far. Derick takes the reins and celebrates his accomplishment of watching all of the currently available Studio Ghibli movies and highlights two of his favorites. Derick also reveals that he has been secretly grinding the wildly popular Baldur's Gate 3 and briefly talks about his experience 40-plus hours into the game. 

The Sweats close out the episode their weekly "Off the Clock" segment where they go around and share what they're looking forward to doing after clocking out of work during the upcoming week.

Which players did they take? How many Eagles did Ryan draft? Did Derick have a player he was eyeing up taken by an auto drafter? Does Chris HATE his team??? The Sweats dive into these topics and more as they go round by round and pick by pick to determine which of them has the best squad. 

The Sweats close out the episode with a lightning round, as they quickly list off their bench players, disclosing their clever (or cringy) team names. and going around the horn for their weekly "Off the Clock" segment!

Welcome back to another sweaty episode of 5 O'Clock Sweats!

In this week's episode, the Sweats turn back the clock and discuss some old games they've been revisiting. To nobody's surprise, Ryan talks about the original Halo games and and how the lack of sprint and advanced movement mechanics can make them feel dated, but that "classic Halo feel" still makes them very fun to play. Ryan also shares his thoughts on the weapon sandbox and lack of balancing in the old Halo games. Chris describes his experience going back and playing the original Gears of War multiplayers and how dated and clunky the games feel after the initial nostalgia wore off. Chris does talk about some positives, such as the sound design, active reload and how satisfying kills still feel, especially sneaking behind someone and pulling off a chainsaw execution. Chris also details his experience playing some of the older Call of Duty games, specifically Modern Warfare 3, by saying the movement feels slow, but shooting and other actions feel very responsive. Also, the pre game lobbies are still as savage as they were back in the day! Chris then reveals which feature from the old Call of Duty games he wants to see come to modern Call of Duty. Derick talks about Dark Cloud 2 - a game he never finished when he was 10 years old - and goes into why he feels the game hasn't aged very well despite its story holding up pretty well. Derick also reveals how he learned to "cheese"  the XP reward system. Make sure you watch till the end to find out how, Dark Cloud 2 fans! We know you're watching.

The Sweats end the episode by going around and sharing one thing they miss the most about these old games and what they're looking forward to doing during the upcoming week in their weekly segment, "Off the Clock."

Welcome back to another sweaty episode of 5 O'Clock Sweats! 

In this week's episode, the Sweats dive into Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and offer their first impressions of the new gameplay trailer and the expected sandbox/gameplay changes launching with the game in November. The guys gush over how pretty the trailer makes the game look graphically and Ryan expresses his excitement for the potential "open world-ish style" campaign experience the game is hinting at. The Sweats then get right into the list of changes expected to come with the game, which include a longer TTK (time to kill), the return of the infamous "slide canceling" and tweaks to sliding in general, changes to tactical sprint, the addition of reload canceling (much to Derick's delight), faster mantling to prevent your character from looking like they're attempting the world's slowest pull-up, and tac stance, which the guys agree is a "wait and see" addition to the game. The Sweats also get into MW3's approach to multiplayer maps and debate whether or not only including remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) is a good idea. The guys also get into the overhauled Zombies game mode and whether or not they like the changes. 

The Sweats end the episode with their "Off the Clock" segment. Derick says he's dreading his fantasy football draft, Ryan talks about a new demo he's playing for a game called "Lies of P"  and Chris says he's excited to play more of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre game.

In this weeks episode, The Sweats lace up their cleats and apply their eye black as they gear up for football season! The guys kick things off by detailing what they love most about football season. Ryan says he loves how football elevates Sunday as a day of the week, Derick says he likes how football Sunday acts as an “anchor” for his week and Chris says football Sunday helps to mitigate the “Sunday scaries.” Also, that diet you’ve been on? Yeah, you can toss that right out the window on football Sunday. Enjoy all the wings, sandwiches, pizza and beer you can consume. The guys audible to a discussion about fantasy football and their love hate relationship with it. Each Sweat names their first overall pick if they had the option. SPOILER ALERT: their unanimous first overall pick, to nobody’s surprise, rhymes with Dustin Hefferson. Chris says he always prefers drafting an elite receiver over an elite running back especially in a PPR format. Ryan says he’s all “Bijan’d up” in reference to Bijan Robinson despite him being an unproven rookie. And Chris talks about his “big boy” auction draft that sounds way too complicated for Ryan and Derick. The guys wrap up the fantasy discussion by naming their boom and bust players going into the season. Ryan names Devonta Smith as his boom despite struggling to say his name, and names Derrick Henry as his bust. Derick names Bijan Robinson as his boom and Christian McCaffrey (gasp) as his bust. Chris names Calvin Ridley as his boom and Stefon Diggs (double gasp) as his bust. The guys call another audible and pivot to real life football as they talk about the upcoming season for the NFL and their beloved Philadelphia Eagles. The guys go through the Eagles’ schedule and provide completely unbiased  opinions as they predict wins and losses. The Sweats end the episode by giving their very early and completely unbiased Super Bowl and NFL MVP predictions. GO BIRDS!!!!

In this week's exciting episode, The Sweats welcome the podcast's first ever guest, Mike (aka "LumberjackSamurai"), to discuss gaming, hobbies, his stream and his strategy when it comes to content creation. The guys start the episode by asking Mike what games he's playing now and what games he's looking forward to playing. For current games, Mike mentions games like Valorant and American Truck Simulator. For games coming up, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 comes up, which leads to some shade being thrown towards Call of Duty, specifically Warzone, with the guys agreeing that the thought of playing Warzone is way more fun than actually playing it. Mike also mentions Starfield and Payday 3 as games he is looking forward to playing. The guys shift the conversation towards Mike's channel and community. Mike stresses the importance of playing a variety of games, specifically games he enjoys, rather than games that may attract more viewers. Mike sings the praises of YouTube streaming by saying he thinks it offers the best chance for discoverability due to the built-in algorithm. Derick talks about his "fun desk" and the balance between work and play when you work remotely. The guys then ask Mike about his hobbies outside of streaming and content creation. Mike reveals that he's in a band that has performed for large crowds at events like Warped Tour and opened for bands like Panic! at the Disco. He also admits to being the only person in existence who doesn't get mad when they play golf despite being bad at it. Chris brings up the content creation mindset and how he constantly is thinking about how he can turn whatever he is doing into content. Mike shares this idea and says he is constantly thinking about how he can make things into a YouTube short. Mike and the guys then discuss how accessible streaming is now with Ryan saying that even a basic "console boi" like him can stream for cheap. Mike and Chris express their frustrations with Twitch streaming and how hard it is to get discovered. Derick, Ryan and Chris whip out their handy dandy notebooks and pick Mike's brain about his short-form content strategies. Ryan offers some rare wise words of his own by imploring creators to trust their content instead of worrying about how many views it'll get. Mike compliments The Sweats for their "relatable" content and references a previous episode where Chris complained about his terrible eyesight. The episode ends with the show's new segment "Off the Clock." Mike says he's looking forward to unplugging and enjoying some family time over the weekend. Derick brags about his long weekend and spending some quality time with his parents, Ryan hints at a return to Apex to try the new season and Chris talks about his hunt for the perfect pickleball paddle and his excitement to start the new season of Hard Knocks.

In the second installment of their Top 100 Video Games episode, The Sweats discuss the remaining games they've played that have appeared on numerous "Top 100 Video Games of All Time" lists. Like the first episode, the guys go around and briefly share their thoughts and memories on the games they've played, which include Fallout, GoldenEye 007, Final Fantasy, God of War, Stardew Valley, Destiny, Halo, The Sims, Hades, Portal, Uncharted, Shadow of the Colossus, Street Fighter, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Elden Ring, The Elder Scrolls, Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Chris starts things off hot by expressing his displeasure for Bethesda games due to how "slow" and dated their gameplay feels. Derick continues his impressive run of clever transitions into each game that's discussed, which inspires Ryan to also attempt some "clever" transitions of his own, much to the chagrin of Chris and Derick. Surprise! Ryan talks about Halo since it is, indeed, on the list. Derick gushes over Hades and implores Ryan to buy it since he's never played it. Ryan randomly shouts out Denny's for having a Street Fighter arcade game that he played all the time when he was a kid. And Chris discusses his love and hate relationship with Elden Ring, saying it is the most frustrating, but also the most rewarding, game he's ever played. The Sweats end this long episode with a couple of honorable mentions that didn't make the cut on any of the Top 100 lists they found. Derick mentions Guitar Hero, Ryan shouts out Super Smash Brothers, and Chris sings the praises of Wii Sports. Stay till the end to watch the boys try to sync up their outro not so successfully, yet again.

In the podcast's first ever two-part episode, The Sweats discuss video games they've played that have appeared on numerous "Top 100 Video Games of All Time" lists. The guys go around and briefly share their thoughts and memories on the games they've played, which include Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (or KOTOR for short), Age of Empires II, Super Mario Bros, Fable Mario Kart, Mass Effect, Fable, Fortnite, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto, Civilization, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Pokémon, Legend of Zelda and Left 4 Dead. Ryan exposes himself by saying he's never played any of the old school Mario games. Derick hilariously and, somewhat successfully, attempts to find a clever transition from one game to the next, and Chris gets offended by Ryan saying Chris' favorite Mario Kart character is Bowser. Ryan and Chris complain about cracked out "building kids" in Fortnite ruining their experience, and Derick reminisces over the Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtrack. The Sweats end the episode by realizing they need another episode to finish the list due to time constraints and transition right into their new segment, which is officially dubbed "Off the Clock." Ryan talks about finishing Vinland Saga season 2 and his new goal of re-watching Oppenheimer in 70mm, Chris says he wants to jump back into old school Gears of War and try not to get stomped in multiplayer, and Derick updates everyone on his Studio Ghibli movie progress.

This week The Sweats shake things up with a "catch up" episode where they go around and discuss what is happening in their incredibly exciting lives. Chris starts things off by inviting the guys aboard the nostalgia train and recounting his experience playing the old Call of Duty games on their restored servers. He also expresses his hesitation of replaying certain games due to his fear of them not being as good as he remembers. Chris also details a rare night out at the theater to see Insidious: The Red Door with the wife. Ryan takes over and details a not-so-rare night out at the theater to see Barbenheimer, where he witnessed people of all ages wearing pink dresses, shirts, hats and heels for Barbie, and men wearing full suits for Oppenheimer (No, Ryan did not sport his finest pink dress for the occasion). Ryan also reveals his “dehydration” technique which allowed him to view both movies back to back without having to use the bathroom (don’t try this at home, kids). Ryan also talks about how much he’s enjoying the Viking anime Vinland Saga and how much he’s looking forward to season 2. Derick and Ryan tell Chris about a newly announced anime called Lazarus that could very well end up being Chris’ first anime since the director of the John Wick movies is designing the action sequences. Speaking of anime, Derick discusses his goal of watching all of the Studio Ghibli movies and the emotional roller coaster each movie has taken him on this far. Shout out To My Neighbor Totoro for being Derick’s favorite to this point. Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish comes up again, much to Chris’ displeasure, since Ryan finally forced Derick to watch it. Derick also gets into a new show he recently finished called Love Village, which is a Japanese reality dating show that features a Backstreet Boys-themed soundtrack. The Sweats end the episode with their new segment called “Off the Clock” where the guys briefly discuss what they’re looking forward to doing after work this week. Derick says he’s excited to watch his favorite F1 track in action, Ryan provides an update on his pickleball league and Chris talks about gearing up for Fantasy Football.

In this week's episode, the Sweats go around the horn and share some of their all-time favorite characters from the world of movies, video games and TV shows! Chris kicks things off in a big way by fan-girling over one of his all-time favorite movie characters, John Wick. This leads to the guys praising Keanu Reeves' performance as the action hero, specifically his ability to be so relatable while mostly delivering cheesy, but great, one-liners. Ryan responds with a haymaker answer of his own by choosing Captain Jack Sparrow. Ryan describes the movie's introduction to this iconic character and blesses the guys and the listening audience with a "spot on" impression of the rum-loving swashbuckler. Derick tackles the impossible task of following up those two characters by naming Damon Macready, AKA "Big Daddy," from the criminally underrated film Kick Ass played by the one and only Nicolas Cage. The guys reflect on Cage's performance, and come to the conclusion that he basically plays a knock-off Batman and that a solo Big Daddy movie would absolutely slap. From here, The Sweats cross into the realm of video games, with Ryan picking the GOAT, Sergeant Avery JOHNSON, from Halo, Derick picking Tidus from Final Fantasy X and Chris picking the badass Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. Goku's name gets mentioned, which leads to Derick and Ryan taking a couple minutes to completely geek out over, arguably, anime's most iconic protagonist. After engaging in a lightning round to speed things up, The Sweats conclude the episode by debuting a new, unofficially named, segment where they go around and name something they're looking forward to doing after work this week. Ryan expresses excitement about his new Pickleball league, Chris talks about revisiting old Call of Duty games now that the servers have been restored and Derick says he's looking forward to watching Daniel Ricciardo race for Red Bull's sister F1 team.
