In this week's exciting episode, The Sweats turn their focus back to gaming and their own rituals and preferences associated with it. Chris kicks things off by discussing his OCD habit of washing his hands before each gaming session to help keep his accessories clean. Ryan says he’s conscious of his hand cleanliness since controllers are expensive, but admits he occasionally gets “residual chocolate” on his fingers. Derick says he games with clean hands, but won’t go as far as to wash them like Chris. The guys then get into their preferred time of day to game. Ryan says he does his best gaming during the morning and says it helps get his “brain juices” going. Chris says that he prefers to game in the afternoon despite getting sad about the day “wasting away,” and Derick says he’s an “after brunch time” gamer. The depressing topic of gaming as an adult comes up, and the guys debate what “prime” gaming age is. Ryan calls himself a “geriatric” gamer while Chris talks about his “vision changes” and how it affects his posture. Derick says he sits an arm’s length away from his monitor, which motivates Chris to make fun of Ryan’s short arms. Ryan calls people who game with contacts psychopaths. Derick piggybacks off that by saying those people have the “wettest peepers.” The guys then discuss their preferred gaming atmosphere. Derick says he “raw dogs” his games by mostly listening to game audio, while Ryan likes to get nostalgic by listening to some Blink 182. Ryan makes fun of Chris’ old man eyes and Derick gets poetic by dropping a “the eyes are the window into the soul” line. Derick says the settings he adjusts first on a new game are graphic settings and mouse sensitivity. Chris removes unnecessary “visual noise” like motion blue or camera shake and Ryan says he checks the FOV so he can pretend to be a PC gamer. The Sweats end the episode by discussing appropriate gaming footwear, with all of them agreeing the only acceptable option is Crocs.

In this week's episode, The Sweats tackle the depressing topic of finding time to enjoy hobbies as a full-fledged adult. Chris vents to the guys about his struggle to find time to play games, such as Diablo, due to work and day-to-day responsibilities, and asks Ryan and Derick if they share the same problem. Ryan, unintentionally, brags about not having the same level of responsibility as Chris and talks about how making time for his hobbies has really helped his mental health, especially in the post-pandemic world. He also talks about his toxic obsession with Apex Legends during the pandemic and how it made him realize the importance of finding active hobbies, such as pickleball and disc golf outside of video games for the sake of his mental and physical health. Chris emphasizes the importance of hobbies that allow him to turn his brain off such as watching The Office for the 10th time. Derick admits he usually avoids new games and shows because he knows he can't dedicate the time to them. The conversation pivots to the concept of free time. Derick talks about his complicated relationship with free time since the pandemic and how he approaches it with a productive mindset. Ryan talks about how he approaches free time when he works from home versus when he's in the office and rambles too long about his nerdy coworker. Chris says he will stay up late to play video games as his way of "taking back" his free time from his work. The Sweats then dive into a variety of topics such as how much sleep they each need to function, the minimum amount of free time each needs to boot up a video game, the ratchet texts Chris receives from Ryan and Ryan's obsession with the Pitch Perfect franchise (better known as the "acca-verse"). The episode concludes with Derick and Chris admitting the discussion was basically a cathartic experience, Derick making a Pitch Perfect reference that fills Ryan's heart with joy and the boys struggling to sync up their consistent and never-changing sign off.

On this week’s episode, The Sweats look at the pros and cons of streaming movies at home versus watching movies at the theater. They start with Chris, who brings up advancements in technology that have leveled the playing field when it comes to the visual and sound quality between the two. Ryan gets sappy and romanticizes the theater experience by mentioning the smell and the sound of fresh popcorn when you first walk into a theater. He also says he doesn’t get as excited to watch new movies at home as he does in the theater because it doesn’t feel like an event. Derick gets real and discusses his anxiety and its impact on his ability to enjoy the theater experience since he doesn’t like sitting down and doing nothing. Ryan, being the lazy guy he is, responds by saying he excels at sitting down and doing nothing. Ryan then reveals the optimal place to sit in a theater, which is dead center in the row behind the handicapped row. Ryan also recommends sitting in the front row if you want to experience neck pain. Take notes, listeners! Derick then randomly mocks movie sound engineers by making a funny nerd voice. The Sweats then get into the meat and potatoes of their discussion by diving into another pros and cons list. Derick starts theater pros by saying production companies make movies with theaters in mind. Ryan mentions the crowd experience with people cheering and clapping as a pro, which prompts Derick to recall himself receiving a “firmware update” while seeing the 2014 Godzilla in theaters and how he’s now reactive to media thanks to that experience. Yay emotions! Chris decides to get into the cons of streaming at home and vents about how many garbage movies get made that go straight to streaming and how little effort seems to go into them. Derick brings up the “smoothing” feature on new TVs as a big con for streaming at home since it makes movies look like soap operas. Chris agrees with Derick’s assessment and explains that buying new TVs has become a stressful process for him and that he sometimes gets motion sickness from watching TVs with this feature. Ryan lists convenient accessibility to a bathroom and the ability to pause as a pro for streaming movies at home and blesses the listeners with a WAYYYY TOO LONG anecdote about having to pee while watching Across the Spiderverse in theaters and his struggle to find a part in the the movie to use the bathroom. Chris expresses his love for theater concessions and says nothing is better than a box of $15 movie theater sno caps. Ryan reveals his life-changing “butter popcorn trick” life hack (listen to find out exactly what it is!). The inevitable topic of costs for theaters and streaming comes up, which sparks a funny discussion about sneaking food into the theater and the strangest thing each Sweat has either brought in, or saw someone else bring in, during a movie. Ryan admits he has snuck Taco Bell, among other fast food items, in during his theater-going career. Chris chastises Ryan and says he doesn’t need to treat himself to a full course meal to enjoy a movie. The Sweats conclude the episode with a brief discussion on theater audio vs at home audio. Derick expresses his love for sound and argues at home sound is too variable and not as consistent as theater audio. This prompts Ryan to refer back to his Across The Spiderverse experience and how Sony had to “patch” the film and release a second version with better sound mixing. How did they forget to talk about trailers??? Guess that will be shelved for a future episode.

In this week’s episode, The Sweats tackle the controversial topic that is PC vs Console gaming! Self proclaimed “Console Boi” Ryan goes to bat for his precious gaming system, noting games like Halo (shocker) as being the driving force behind his early obsession with console gaming. Ryan then decides to personally attack his PC gamer co-hosts by insulting their “1000 FPS and light-up keyboards.” Derick explains that while he is primarily a PC gamer, he does own a Nintendo Switch and PS5 and plays them on his fancy shmancy projector. Derick also shocks Ryan and Chris by admitting he has not played his Switch while on the toilet, which is honestly a damn shame. Chris recalls when he built his first PC right before the pandemic, and nerds out about PC hardware and the satisfying process of building a PC and it actually working as intended. The Sweats then dive into a pros and cons list for each system and begin by singing the praises of PC. Chris points at the robust settings options, Derick praises the versatility of PC, and Ryan enviously mentions the number of games available on PC. Some other pros include the ability to switch inputs on the fly, and how cheap storage is compared to console. The guys then transition to PC cons, which include the inaccessibility of building a PC for first timers, miscellaneous issues that can occur while playing, and the learning curve that comes with learning mouse and keyboard. Ryan takes this opportunity to rant about his personal struggles trying to move and shoot while playing mouse and keyboard because of his small baby hands. The Sweats transition to listing some console pros, including its accessibility to new gamers, simplicity in its hardware, and the portability, which prompts Ryan to refer back to when he brought his Xbox to Chris’ bachelor party. The episode concludes with The Sweats ripping consoles by listing some cons. Chris mentions how expensive games are now, Derick points out consoles are usually a step behind PC when it comes to current tech and Ryan sadly admits that console is no match for PC when it comes to setting personalization. Before signing off, Ryan calls out Call of Duty Warzone for not implementing an FOV slider on console for two years and demands compensation from Activision for his headache medication. Cha Feel?

In this week's episode, The Sweats go on a nostalgia trip to discuss their history with gaming consoles! The discussion kicks off with the Xbox 360, with Ryan reflecting on his "disc-tile dysfunction" when it came to his 360's busted disc tray, and the different methods he used to try and free his disc from its slit-shaped prison. Derick shudders at Ryan's use of the word "slit," and rightfully so. Chris later threatens to ban the word if Ryan uses it again. The PlayStation 2 gets a much deserved shoutout, and Derick lists some of his favorite "buddy" games such as Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. Chris brings up the Nintendo Wii (aka the GOAT) and lists off all the accessories he needed to play it, which leads The Sweats to ponder the question: "What does using or not using the Wii remote strap say about one's personality?" Some Wii games are discussed, with Ryan saying how he would sweat while playing Wii Tennis, and Chris describing how he would brutally choke people in The Godfather without remorse. The episode concludes with a focus on modern consoles, including how bad Xbox's console naming has become, and a look ahead to some new console games The Sweats are excited to play (hint: not many).

In this week's thrilling episode, The Sweats discuss horror movies while trying to make sure the word "horror" does not sound like a certain other word each time they say it. Ryan uses this topic as an excuse to talk about Jaws AGAIN, and reveals how the original Paranormal Activity scared him so much that he bought a night light. Derick talks about how good horror movies are the kind that stick with you, like how The Ring made him afraid of TVs for an undisclosed number of years. Chris talks about how effective camera work can heighten the terror in certain scenes and how he finds gratuitous gore icky. Derick coins the phrase "freaked my bean" while talking about The Nun (Maybe we make that into a T-shirt? Stay tuned). Ryan recommends a show for every cannibal enthusiast and Chris says he avoids all storm drains because of the movie IT. The Sweats close the episode by each naming their top three horror movies, and conclude that old people in scary movies are objectively terrifying.

In this week's episode, The Sweats dive into movies and attempt to name some of their favorites. Ryan talks WAY too long about Jaws, its impact on his beach-going and decides to list off some marine animals he likes. Derick reveals his Disney VHS collection, and shares his thoughts on the influx of live action Disney remakes. Chris, shockingly, admits that he doesn't practice martial arts and names some of his favorite action movie stars. Ryan says "I mean" a lot without even realizing it. And Derick moderates as Chris and Ryan name their top 5 favorite movies---with more than a few honorable mentions, of course.

In their debut episode, The Sweats take a walk down memory lane as they reminisce on their gaming history, including LAN parties, drinking copious amounts of Mountain Dew, and how old school pre game lobbies taught them a lot about life itself. Ryan makes a weird shoutout to his ex-step brother for introducing him to Halo and shaping him into the "man" he is today. Chris gets nostalgic about GoldenEye 007, Gears of War 1v1 sniper battles, and old-school Call of Duty back when it was pure and good. Derick talks about his "wiggly worm" for his Gameboy color, his early introduction to PC gaming, and how cracked he is at Counter Strike. They also tackle important questions like "was the original Xbox controller TOO big for their little boy hands?" and "what IS the shape of Italy?"

In this episode, The Sweats show their age and discuss how gaming has changed over the years. Ryan expresses his disdain for broken movement mechanics in games such as Apex Legends, and the obsession with gamers wanting to post the next viral clip on social media. This sparks a discussion on movement and its place in games today. Slide canceling, bunny hopping, tap staffing, OH MY! Chris admits a younger him would overcharge his parents' credit card on Fortnite skins. He also talks about how the live service model in modern gaming is negatively impacting players, and complains about how game developers today consider cosmetics and micro transactions "content." Whatever happened to the days when new maps and game modes were the content? Derick shouts out strategy guides(!!!), explains how advancements in tech have made content creation easier and chastises game studios for releasing incomplete games such as PUBG.
