50 States of Terror - American Cryptid Podcast

Official announcement of our upcoming Minisodes. We have mentioned it and decided..... "WHY NOT?!"

But here is the catch, they are going to be interactive. So check out the details in this quick listen! You will have voting power in upcoming episodes.

Quick text recap:

Minisodes will include multiple cryptids/topics for upcoming episodes. One of them will be our next episode's full length topic. YOU will get to vote on which you think we are going to cover. If the listener's speak and we were wrong, you will get a part two covering the cryptid you voted for. If we were RIGHT and the votes match the content we made... then the one presenting the case will tally up a point. When we earn five points we not only get to gloat in our victory, but we also win the ability to choose a bonus episode of whatever content we want to cover... and the other one has to go along with it. So perhaps Anthony will get his much desired Bigfoot episode. ;)

Reminder that Patreon members votes count DOUBLE.

This episode's Cryptid Encounter was inspired by one of the host's favorite video game cameo, we are covering the Snallygaster! The word is a bastardization of the original German name for the "Fast Spirit".  It was also part of the inspiration of our logo so it is fitting we recorded this episode on our one year anniversary!

Thank you for joining for another BONUS episode!

On the fringe of the internet when searching for information about Cryptids we keep running in to some specific and unique topics. But one kept grabbing our attention. The association and relatability of Cryptids and the LGBT+ community. And you may be thinking, "Um.... What?" Hear us out.

Anthony and Kailey present a joint introduction, but then Kailey goes on location to the very lovely and comfortable studio that is home to Black Sheep Aesthetics. They discuss the origins of the trend that is finding more and more young LGBT+ members relating to iconography of cryptid and cryptid like figures. They share some of their own stories. And overall have a great time.

We decided to do this episode after the warm response we received from our Mental Health Special. As long as you all like these bonus features... we are gonna keep them coming!

Maine is more than the scary stories Stephen King writes. There is a real legend up here, and it is based on a character that is terrifying enough on it's own without the paranormal twist.

Here at 50 States of Terror we believe that the only way to Break The Stigma of Mental Health is to encourage open discussion and engage others in conversation about it. We think you will enjoy this bonus episode that veers off of your normal content and hopefully brings some enlightenment to some shadowy conversations we try to skirt around.

Kailey is joined by the amazing Dr. Anthony Zoccolillo, psychology professor at TAMUCC. He brings a fun, casual, and educational point of view and expertise to the topic. Clarifying some misconceptions we may all be facing in regard to some of the most commonly misidentified disorders.

We discuss our own journey with mental health, how it affects how we parent our children, why we can't immediately discredit cryptid sightings solely based on one's mental health diagnosis, and for a brief moment we discuss... why are aliens so obsessed with butts?

I hope you get the feel that this episode will educational but also not a stuffy discussion. We share laughs and life experiences. And that is just the way we will break the stigma of mental health. Open unashamed dialogue.

We aren't sure why they are still referred to as Goblins when they are CLEARLY Aliens. But this may very well be our longest regular programmed episode.

We couldn't have given such a thorough episode without the AMAZING book by Isabel Davis. You can read it here: Close_Encounter_at_Kelly.pdf (cufos.org)

We are exploring the landscape and history of Kansas! These Whopper Hoppers may have been a clear Hoax but that doesn't rain on our parade. During the drought and Dustbowl of the 1930's these creatures were the source of fascination and amusement in an otherwise Great Depression era.
