On May 19, 1977, Colleen Stan was hitchhiking from her home in Oregon, to a friend's home in Northern California. Cameron Hooker and his wife Janice kidnapped 20-year-old Stan after picking her up. A bizarre torture device was locked on her head and she was secreted away to the couple's basement, where she was starved, tortured, abused and brainwashed. Stan was permitted to write letters and even visit her family on one occasion-- but she returned to captivity in one of the most bizarre stories in the history of crime.
