Tonielle Dempers, Senior Architect with Tangentyere Design, talked through the importance of this phase of the new Alice Springs Public Library. This Saturday 21 March is the chance for all those who haven't completed the survey in this Community Consultation and Concept Design Phase to join in at the Library and  speak one on one with their elected officials and design team. Tonielle expressed the importance of getting your ideas in at this initial stage, as each phase will be up for tender and may not be the same organisation leading throughout the whole process.

Norm Hooker from north of Tennant Creek, visited our Tennant Creek studio to give his testimony on the impacts of the floods here in the NT. He shared with 8CCC's Brian Coleman, the heartbreaking details of this third inundation on his property Bluebush since 2023. 8CCC have invited the Barkly's MLA Steve Edgington to discuss the tragic circumstances for locals on the land and share the CLP's plans for recovery. 8CCC's Kate Lyons-Dawson spoke with Yankunytjatjara/Kokatha poet and artist from South Australia, Ali Cobby Eckerman, who has been published and celebrated around the world. Ali will be travelling up through the entire Northern Territory in a life long dream to find the next unpublished poets of the Northern Territory. It will result in a new First People's anthology, and NT Writer's Executive Director  SezzaJai Sykes was there to explain the details, workshops and links with the NT Writers Festival.

We were lucky to have Yul Scarf drop by on the Brekky show to talk about her second solo exhibition "Private Property". A body of work of both paintings and drawings, capturing her view of the conditions and events shaping life in Mparntwe Alice Springs, which are her responses to a collection of short films, also on show.

Beth Uhe formed BB Sabina - the band name captures that transformative nature of a stage name crossed with the Yoma sabina butterfly - when she lived for seven years in Mparntwe Alice Springs. Since moving to Naarm and starting a new band line up with Warrick Newman (bass) and Travis Germaine (drums) they've released three tracks with the label Wild Gift PR and are hoping to release their album in Spring this year.

Their latest single In Between is inspired by a journey from Mparntwe (Alice Springs) to Garramilla (Darwin) when swimming in a remote waterhole and watching a water bug standing effortlessly balanced by the water's surface tension. “It captures a yearning for that weightless in-between space, like the surface of the water. Not fully immersed, yet not on the land - wanting to be comfortable with that place in between.” If you happen to be in Naarm, catch the launch for the single on Sunday 15 March at the Retreat Hotel in Brunswick.
