Maureen O'Keefe and Olivia Nigro from the Running Waters Community Press chat to The Big Brekky about the debut of 'kwatye urrewe', an immersive film series follows writers from across the central desert sharing their writing on their homelands, directed by Keiran Satour.

Held this Sunday, March 17th from 12pm at The Roastery, the film is presented by a group of First Nations writers and linguists as part of the Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival, and livestreamed direct from the Festival. The project is a partnership by Running Water Community Press & GARUWA, funded by the Readings Foundation & the Northern Territory Government of Australia.

Local Ethnobotanist, Peter Latz, has donated his latest book 'Tough, Tantalizing or Tasty' to the Garden to sell. On the Big Brekky Show, Cardiologist Dr Gavin Wheaton and team member Sally Grimsley-Ballard from the Deadly Heart Trek chat about rheumatic heart disease (RHD). Aboriginal kids in Alice Springs have some of the highest rates of RHD in Australia and possibly the world. The Deadly Heart Trek brings together a coalition of paediatric cardiologists, multi-disciplinary doctors, Aboriginal cultural guides and health workers to address the critical health issue of RHD in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. 

The project is excited to launch its fourth leg in Alice Springs, and are at Congress clinics over the next week for free drop ins and to raise awareness of the issue.

Minister for Araluen, Robyn Lambley, joins the Big Brekky Show to discuss the pre-election political landscape.
