2006 - On July 26th 2006, a British auction-house sold Paul McCartney's first guitar for a whopping half a million dollars.

Artifact of the day: 1975 - The Eagles launched a five week stretch at U.S No.1 with their album "One Of Those Nights" on July 26th, 1975.

1980 - July 25th 1980, AC/DC released their sixth studio album, "Back In Black", which was the first without lead singer Bon Scott, who passed away earlier that same year.

1999 - Woodstock 1999 was renamed "Apocalypse Woodstock" by MTV, when pricey concessions, poor plumbing and a performance by Limp Bizkit inspired the crowds to riot, on July 25th 1999.

2001 - On July 25th 2001, Aaliyah made her final stage appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Just one month later she and her crew died tragically in a plane crash when returning from the Bahamas.

Artifact of the day: 1964 - "A Hard Day's Night" by The Beatles lands No.1 Album in the U.S and U.K at the same time, in July 1964.

1982 - July 24th 1982, "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor hit No.1 on the U.S singles chart and held its place for 6 solid weeks. It's popularity was thanks to the freshly released film in which it was famously featured, "Rocky III."

1995 - On July 24th 1995, a three night event honoring Frank Sinatra's 80th birthday launches in Los Angeles. His beloved New York City pays their own tribute by lighting up The Empire State Building in blue to honor him.

2007 - Beyonce took a fall onstage while performing in Orlando, Florida on July 24th 2007. She tripped down twelve stairs, but quickly recovered and kept singing, like only Queen Bey could.

1994 - July 23rd 1994, musician Frank Zappa has an asteroid in Mars' orbit named after him by the International Astronomical Union to honor his passing a year prior.

2011 - On July 23rd 2011, Amy Winehouse passes away at age 27 from alcohol poisoning, after a long and public battle with alcoholism.

Artifact of the day: 1977 - July 23rd 1977, Barry Manilow's "Looks Like We Made It" tops the charts at No.1.

1983 - July 20th 1983, Princess Diana proclaimed "Duran Duran" to be her favorite band, while attending a charity concert they headlined at Dominion Theatre in London.

1994 - Ace of Base hits their 3rd week at No.1 on the Billboard charts with their song "Don't Turn Around" in July of 1994.

2017 - On July 20th 2017, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, lost his battle with depression, which he was extremely vocal about throughout his life and lyrics. The singer died by suicide at age 41.
