The Montreal podcast that asks Gonzalo Coloma (YES Montreal) & Daian Tang (CHOKITEM) from What the Pop!: If you could travel back in time and see any show, what show would it be? (as asked by Joey Elias back on GPYS 214).
Where do we even begin with this one? There’s just so much going on.
The most important thing is that both of our wonderful guests on this episode will be a part of the What the Pop! Pop-Up Exhibition this weekend. What is that? Glad you asked.
On Saturday September 5th YES Montreal is bringing together over 50 talented, emerging artists from across Quebec to help them gain exposure and sell their art. You can head to Riverside (5020 Rue St-Ambroise) or Centre St-Jax (1439 Rue Ste-Catherine St) between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm this Saturday to see live music and performances, buy one of a kind art work, mixed media, fasion items, jewelry, crafts and probably a million other things.
Our guests are Gonzalo Coloma, who works as an Artist Coach for YES Montreal and also used to run his own circus (yes, we get to that) and Daian Tang who has worked in the fashion industry for 15 years and runs Chokitem (accesories, jewelery and more).
We talk about making it as an artist in the time of Covid-19, how to stay inspired, how to sell yourself and some of the most delicious meals we’ve heard about to date in 5 questions.
Listen to the show, head out to the pop-up exhibition and support the artists online as What the Pop! will be opening a virtual version of the exhibition sometime in the next week or so.

The Fantasia International Film Festival is back! Montreal’s favorite genre cinema festival is (unsurprisingly) 100% virtual this year with films, events, panels and more all happening remotely for your socially distant view pleasure.
As we do every year the 9to5.cc extended family has been watching Fantasia movies and getting together to talk about them and then turning those discussions into podcasts.
This is Episode 1 where we talk about: The Columnist and Crazy Samurai Musashi
The Fantasia International Film Festival runs until Sept 2nd. Check out the official website for their selection of timed screenings and on-demand movies.

The Montreal podcast that asks Joey Elias: What is the one major law you would break if you could? (asked by Coko Galore and Ophira Calof in Episode 213).
Joey Elias is one of the pillars of the Montreal comedy scene. As Uncle Ben told Peter Parker: with great power comes great responsibility. To that end Joey has also become synonymous with a number of charitable organizations in and around the city, raising money and awareness for causes and members of the community that need help.
One of those causes is exactly what has brought Joey to the show today: Joey Elias and the Comedy All Stars at the Royalmount Drive-In. Joey has been putting together this event for 9 years running and even though this year will be different (it’s being held at a drive-in instead of the traditional venue of Club Soda), the cause remains the same and in many ways is even more important than ever before.
The event will be raising money for 03: On Our Own, with 25$ from each ticket sold going straight to help out O3.
So get your tickets now while you still can over at Eventbrite and head to the Royalmount Drive-In on August 26th to see Joey Elias, Harrison Weinreb, Amanda McQueen, Rodney Ramsay and GPYS’ own Lawrence Corber and support a great cause.

The Montreal geek podcast that spends much, much too time talking about spooky children.
Seriously, this episode is just lousy with spooky kids… and Johnny Depp. Who is kind of a life-long spooky child if you think about it.
Enjoy the show!
Also Note: There might not be a Garbage Time on Patreon this episode, we are trying to figure that out.
Also also note: This was erroneously published as episode 218, I realize now that it is episode 215. Counting is hard.
The bed music during our advertising is an old loop by OKU-DA and our intro song is a brand new jam he cooked up just for us (note: both songs do not really reflect his usual style, but do yourself a favour and check out his SoundCloud).

The Montreal podcast that asks the organizers of Our Cities On Our Stages: “Would you rather be a robot, and how much of a robot? Arms? Legs? Whole body?” (as asked by The Boids way back in episode 202!)
Coko Galore and Ophira Calof are our guests (remember when we had guests on this show?) this week to talk about the 5th Annual ‘Our Cities On Our Stages’. What is ‘Our Cities On Our Stages’?
“It’s a diversity and inclusion symposium, providing tools to BIPOC, disabled and LGBTQ2S+ comedy artists to pave a new way for comedy. This year, “Our Cities on Our Stages” is entirely online, opening the discussion to a global audience. From Friday August 7th to Sunday August 9th, participants will engage with topics including authenticity in storytelling, building community centred productions, and creating online shows. The recent launch of Bad Dog Comedy TV will be used as a case study and model.” (From Bad Dog Theatre Official Website).
Coko is the Artistic and Managing Director of the event and Ophira is a Curator and Producer. Normally the symposium takes place in Toronto but this year, like many other things, it is taking place entirely online! Which means that it doesn’t matter if you live in Toronto, Montreal or literally anywhere else on the planet, you can still attend!
So listen now for a lively chat about the MCU (again?), Watchmen, making comedy more accessible and be sure to check out the event on Facebook, join the Facebook Group and obviously feel free to donate to help make sure this year’s free edition is a success!
IMPORTANT: Register here as space is actually limited to the panels and you must register in order to attend!
Enjoy the show!

The Montreal podcast that used to have guests on to talk about awesome stuff in Montreal and now just talks about comic movies and Game of Thrones. Oh dear lord we’ve become literally every other podcast ever.
Walter once again inserts himself into another episode and Chris, Lawrence and I turn our attention to Phase 3 of the MCU (while Walter tries with varying degrees of success at derailing the whole thing).
Oh and guess what, if things work out in the next two weeks we’re going to have an actual guest? Say whhaaaat. In the meantime enjoy this thing that has become this show.

The Montreal arts and entertainment podcast that is still in quarantine is back baby!
Walter shows up again to hijack the show/grace us with his presence while we talk about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Lawrence and I came into the MCU as comic books fans, Christopher was working at Blockbuster in 2008 when Iron Man ruled the silver screen and Walter just really likes Batman.
Don’t know how many more of these “Quarantine” episodes we’ve got left before we start having real guests on again but we’re probably going to be talking more about the MCU next episode. Maybe without Walter.
There’s 22 movies you guys and we barely talk about half of them.
Enjoy the show!
