In what’s become an annual tradition, Go Plug Yourself proudly presents our Annual Shit Show Spectacular!
What is the shit show you might ask? Well, it’s a simple enough premise. We get some of our favorite people in the Montreal comedy scene (and sometimes pro-wrestlers) to sit around and drink and we record the whole thing and call it a podcast.
It harkens back to a simpler time when podcasts didn’t need to be “about” one thing or another. Simpler, happier times.
This year we’re proud to welcome many of my favorite Montreal comedians: Kayla De Leon, Inés Anaya, Lawrence Corber, Chris Venditto and Walter J. Lyng (and some cameos by my wife Sarah) to a group call that we recorded last week. It’s great. I swear.
Is it 2 hours long? Yes it is. Is it 2 hours long because I just miss everyone so much? Yes it is.
Sit back, relax, put this show on in the background and pretend we’re all there with you.
As always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude!
Keith does all sorts of things here on 9to5.cc, he works with the other founders on 9to5 (illustrated), co-hosts our two podcasts: The 9to5 Entertainment System and Go Plug Yourself and blogs here as The Perspicacious Geek.

The Montreal geek podcast that successfully decoded the Zodiac Killer’s Code is back with another tremendous episode for you!
Wait, that wasn’t us? That was some other podcast?
Bummer.
We actually make good on the idea of a holiday edition of this silly show and talk about Christmas movies for a good long while at the end of the episode so you have that to look forward to.
As always, if you are a fan of 9ES and you have a couple bucks kicking around, might I humbly suggest signing up at the 3$ level over on our Patreon? You’ll get early access to episodes and a bonus episode twice a month that we like to call 9ES Garbage Time.
The bed music during our advertising is an old loop by OKU-DA and our intro song is a brand new jam he cooked up just for us (note: both songs do not really reflect his usual style, but do yourself a favour and check out his SoundCloud).

The Montreal podcast that asks the creators of Total Crap (Simon Lacroix & Pascal Pilote): How do you organize your work to make sure you don’t miss anything? Asked by Alex Rose of Cult MTL in last episode.
I think it is pretty fitting that Walter stepped back in to co-host this very special episode of Go Plug Yourself because it was Walter who introduced me to the sheer lunacy of Total Crap. Imagine the strangest stuff you’ve ever seen on television. Now imagine it spliced and smashed together for 2 hours. Mix in French Canadian humor, dubbed movies and a healthy dose of very strange pro wrestling and you’re beginning to scratch the surface of Total Crap.
Simon and Pascal have been putting together these specials and touring them around the province for 17 years. I’m pretty sure that means they invented YouTube. While in the past they have been bringing Total Crap to venues all across the province, like everything else in 2020, they’ve gone virtual.
You should check Total Crap spécial N*ël virtuel and follow them on Facebook for future updates and eventually info on their live shows when that becomes a thing again!. Total Crap spécial N*ël is this Saturday, December 12th at 9pm, tickets on lepointdevente.com.

Hagazussa certainly does not belong on a list with Leonard Part IV. I just think we should be taking best movie ever into territory that is more specific and less generally awful. Like just about nobody (sorry, Bill) found Leonard Part IV funny, and plenty of people found it obnoxious and offensive. Hagazussa, I bet there’s a small subset of filmgoers who were way into it. I almost was. Not Keith though. I think it will be the sort of thing he will despise.
Who knows.

Alex Rose from CULT MTL and Les Voyeurs de Vues podcast answers the question: What was the most important piece of advice you’ve ever been given and who gave it to you? As asked by Dave Kaufman last episode.
Alex Rose joins Lawrence and I to celebrate the one year anniversary of being hit by a car and talk about Montreal murders, going to the movies and a movie called Fat Man starring Mel Gibson that exists for some reason.
Check out Alex’s podcast (and support it on Patreon!) Les Voyeurs de Vues and keep up to date with his film reviews over at CULT Mtl.

Lawrence Corber also produces some shows you may have heard of (you should probably check out the next Healthy Living show when you get a chance) and if you’re close with him you can call him Lully. The other way to call him “Lully” is to follow him on his socials. @Lully514 on Instagram.

Well in the meantime it turns out the Ubi thing was in fact someone hoaxing. A random Redditor postulated it was to steal bitcoins on someone’s computer. Not impossible!

The Montreal podcast that asks CJAD’s Dave Kaufman: What is the “OMG” moment of your life? (As asked by Jim and Austin Beauchamp of Cunninghams Pub).
We know just what you wanted this week.
You wanted an extra long episode of Go Plug Yourself to take your mind off of the craziness of politics. Well, we half delivered. This is an extra long episode of the show but it is almost exclusively about politics, that said, it all wraps up with one of the all-time great 5 Question segments we’ve ever had.
Dave Kaufman is our guest this week who was gracious enough to come on the show to talk about the American election, American politics and a little bit about the Tragically Hip.
Be sure to follow Dave on Twitter @TheKaufmanShow and on Instagram @davekaufman1 . Oh, and you might want to listen to him on CJAD where he pops up all over the place to talk politics, sports, trivia and more.
Enjoy the show!

He’s @chrisvenditto on Twitter and Instagram so you should follow him on those two things. He also produces shows with the guys at Perfect Bite Productions who you should also follow on Instagram and on Facebook.

Rereading The Illuminatus! Trilogy I found a line in there that I have fallen in love with.
“There are great truths and there are lesser truths. The opposite of a lesser truth is false, but the opposite of a great truth is also true.”
So when you say, “Democracy!” about this cockamamie malarkey, I now infer that you are proclaiming a Great Truth. On the one had, there’s votes and counting and stuff and so it is a democracy, on the other hand, there’s so much falsehood and deception and undemocratic institutions layering their influence there’s nothing democratic about it, and on the third hand, OG Athens 300 BC Greek Golden Ages style democracy, where only 40 year old adult male slaveholders get to vote, this is definitely a True Democratic election.

The Montreal podcast that asks Jim & Austin Beauchamp (of Cunninghams Pub): “If you could be one existing soda, what would you be?” (asked of by the incomparable James McGee).
Jim Beauchamp runs a little place you might know for good food and good fun: Cunninghams Pub in Ste-Anne-De-Bellevue. Jim and his son Austin join Chris and I to talk about the realities of running a restaurant in the midst of a pandemic and how they have managed to adapt to the craziness of the last 6 months (and the possible craziness of the next 6 months as well).
From broadening their delivery services, to making sure customers were safe when they were allowed to be open, halfway to St-Patrick’s day celebrations and bottling hotsauce Jim and company have been doing their best to stay connected to their loyal customers. They also talk about the part they played in raising over $40,000 for charity as part of the “I Ride for Cody” campaign.
If you’re worried about local establishments like Cunninghams do yourself a favour and support the establishments you want to have around when this is all over with. Local businesses need a lot of support of they’re going to make it out of all of this so the next time you’re ordering in maybe pick a family run business over a chain. Just sayin’.
Enjoy the show!

Boy Scott really didn’t like that Dracula movie. More than he didn’t like Who’s Your Caddy? Which more or less means we’ve failed terribly at our Worst Movie Ever bid. Time to bring out some Big Guns
