The Montreal podcast that asks guitarist Pierre-Luc Rioux: What would you wish for? (asked by Kayla de Leon and Tyler Lemco in GPYS 231).
Pierre-Luc Rioux is Montreal guitarist who you have almost certainly heard at one point or another. Whether it was featuring on tracks from the likes of David Guetta, Justin Bieber and Katie Perry (just to name drop a few of the artists he’s worked with) or his band Chiiild, who recently had a song featured on Grey’s Anatomy.
Pierre-Luc Rioux’s band Chiiild will also be hitting the stage at the upcoming Governor’s Ball in New York this September.
Birthday boy Chris Venditto is our co-host on this one as we sit down and have a chat with Pierre-Luc Rioux about video game streaming, ice cream, not being able to grab a bite to eat with Ariana Grande and the differences between L.A. and Montreal.
Oh, and there’s still a few more days to vote for Go Plug Yourself as The Best Podcast in Montreal (voting ends May 16) so if you haven’t already head on over at vote vote vote. You need to vote in 25 categories and if you don’t have 25 things to vote for feel free to copy off my cheat sheet.
Enjoy the show!

There are a lot of podcasts that are out there that make it their business to be up to date on the latest movies that are being released. We are not one of those podcasts.
We’re just as likely to spend a good 20 minutes talking about Mad Max: Fury Road (again) as we are to talk about anything that is currently in cinemas. Not so this week! Scott AND Keith have both seen Godzilla vs Kong and Mortal Kombat so we talk about (and rank on The List) about all the ups and downs of both of those movies.
Are we at the point where we can just make movies about people and monsters fighting each other for 2 hours and it will make us happy? I mean sure. It’s been a rough year, just show me the most absurd spectacles possible and give me my popcorn.
The Oscars happened and you know what? We don’t even talk about them. Who has the capacity to watch the kind of emotionally draining movies that typically get Oscar nominations?
Not us.
MORTAL KOMBAT AND LIZARD MONKEY FIGHTS FOR ALL!
The bed music during our advertising is an old loop by OKU-DA and our intro song is a brand new jam he cooked up just for us (note: both songs do not really reflect his usual style, but do yourself a favour and check out his SoundCloud.

The Montreal podcast that asks the host of “11:11 Make a Wish” Kayla de Leon and Tyler Lemco: If you were a spicy mayonnaise, what would you be? (Asked by Amy Blackmore back in episode 229).
Tyler Lemco and Kayla De Leon are two of the funniest people in Montreal. So it’s only fitting that they now have a podcast together. It’s called “11:11 Make a Wish” and you guessed it, they have guests on and talk about wishes. Check them out on Instagram @makeawishpodcast and get all the hot links on their LinkTree.
We talk about Big Brother Canada, jury duty, running for mayor and Tyler provides one of the grossest answers to one of our 5 Questions.
Oh, it’s also the annual Cult MTL “Best of Montreal” readers poll right now and we would really appreciate it if you would kindly head over to Cult MTL and vote for Go Plug Yourself as your favorite Montreal podcast.
Enjoy the show!

The Montreal podcast that brings you all of the hottest takes on the new skate park in Verdun is ready for you with episode 233.
Seriously though, Keith tries to reminisce about skate parks and that was apparently just not a part of Scott and Jon’s childhood so the conversation just kind of ends right there.
Should you invest in NFTs? Probably. We were like a week ahead of the curve on the GameStop thing so why not trust this dumb podcast for your online investment planning?
All this and your usual hungry man sized meal of pop culture nonsense is waiting for you in this, the 233th episode of the 9to5 Entertainment System.

Walter J. Lyng is back on the Montreal podcast that has historically spends a lot of time talking about wrestling even though it’s not a wrestling podcast! We’re back baby!
Ladies and gentleman, our guest at this time is none other than Go Plug Yourself Hall of Famer: Walter J. Lyng!
If you are somehow tuning into the show for the first time you know that 80% of all of the hosts of Go Plug Yourself love wrestling (one guess on the 20% who doesn’t, hint, she passed on joining us for this episodes).
Considering that this past weekend was the 2nd Covid-19 edition of WrestleMania we thought it would be fun to bring back your friend and mine Walter to talk about the entire two night event and do a match by match breakdown of the festivities. It’s kind of like Pat on the Mat, minus Pat… and plus Lawrence and Chris.
Oh, it’s also the annual Cult MTL “Best of Montreal” readers poll right now and we would really appreciate it if you would kindly head over to Cult MTL and vote for Go Plug Yourself as your favorite Montreal podcast.

Amy Blackmore joins the Montreal podcast that asks the question: “Who have you thought about recently from your past that you realized you had forgotten about?” (asked by Tim Riel back in episode 227).
Amy Blackmore has had a hell of year.
We’ve all had a hell of year but Amy’s might have taken the cake.
From having Mainline Theater shut down due to the pandemic (followed rapidly by the cancellation of any live and in person Fringe shows) to overcoming a string of personal issues let me just say that the fact the she is going full steam ahead right now is absolute craziness.
But, dwelling on the negative is for suckers and Amy Blackmore is no sucker. Amy also comes up with probably the most succinct answers ever to Question 3.
So it is that we welcome Amy back to the show to talk about the very imminent (hopefully) return of live theater, staying positive as we approach the finish line to all this shit and more. Things are finally getting close to being back to normal, let’s stay safe, do the thing and hopefully in 6 months this will all start fading into a distant memory. Let’s go.
Enjoy the show!

We finally talk about the Snyder Cut! I saw it! Pandemic is over I saw the Snyder Cut!
The Montreal podcast that talks about the great sport of tag and how a young child will always best a grown man in his forties.
Jon sits this one out because his home computer is like Fort Knox, there’s a quote kicking around in the old comics somewhere about his impenetrable defenses but I couldn’t find it.
So Scott and I do what we do and talk about the things that we like.
In this case that means getting real nostalgic about old video stores (Scott watched “The Last Blockbuster“), old movies like “Speed” and then Scott endures listening to me go into great detail (finally!) about the Snyder Cut of Justice League.
Scott also watched the first episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier too so there’s that.
Oh yeah! On this week’s episode of Garbage Time (out Friday on our Patreon!) we talk a bunch about wrestling so check that out if you’re into throwing us a couple bucks.
Enjoy the show!

The Montreal podcast that existed long before the Covid-19 pandemic takes a look back at the last year of isolation and social distancing.
It’s been one full year since Go Plug Yourself transformed into Go Quarantine Yourself during the initial lockdown.
How have we grown and changed over that time? Has anything changed? Have we grown at all? Did we learn anything?
Probably not.
Lawrence, Chris and I have a nice little roundtable chat and try to stay positive. We love you. PS: I know that Inés is in this episode image but she had a last minute thing involving a cat so she couldn’t make it. I had made the image prior to recording and I’m not about to change it.

After 230 are we completely replaceable by algorithms? Almost certainly. Of course the bots that would be generated by the 9ES dataset would be our public ‘podcastey’ selves. There’s no question we, as children, learn to speak with different voices, right? Our ‘in front of the parents’ voice and our ‘flexing in front of friends’ voice etc. We must each have five or six at least. I wonder how deep those modes go, and surely podcast-Jon is a pale shadow of the Jons available to be reproduced by bots. Gosh I hope so.
