The Fantasia International Film Festival is here! This year our coverage will be split up between new contributor Phil and one of our initial founding members Sophie! In this kickoff episode of our podcast series we run down Phil and Sophie’s preliminary “Top 5” lists of movies they are excited to see at this year’s edition of Fantasia. Enjoy the show!
Keith does all sorts of things here on 9to5.cc, he works with the other founders on 9to5 (illustrated), co-hosts our two podcasts: The 9to5 Entertainment System and Go Plug Yourself and blogs here as The Perspicacious Geek.
Philippe is new around here at 9to5.cc but he’s already managed to knock out some movie reviews for your reading pleasure.
Sophie does all of the arts on 9to5 illustrated and blogs weekly about her adventures with beer in The Ignorant Beer Review.

Walter and Reese are rad dads! What is even the point of having your own podcast if you can’t use it to occasionally plug your own shows? My dear co-host Walter Lyng has prepared a little something special for the OFF-JFL audiences this year. A special comedy show that he’s organizing with the always delightful Reese Turner. A show about dads. And being rad. At the same time. All of the time.
Rad Dads! is one night only Thursday, July 19th at 21:00 at Cafe Cleopatra. Tickets and more info HERE.
Reese was kind enough to let us record this episode in his home, and you know I’m not lying because there is an entire section of this show where he is recording while holding his baby.
As always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude!

We’re back once again with Montreal’s favorite English language wrestling podcast, Pat on the Mat! In this episode we talk about Dominion, Money In The Bank, ROH (not) at Madison Square Garden, the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view, WALTER vs PCO here in Montreal and so much more!
If you like what Pat has to say, be sure to check out any (or all!) of the books he’s written about the squared circle:
Sisterhood of the Squared Circle: The History and Rise of Women’s Wrestling
Mad Dog: The Maurice Vachon Story
Mad Dogs, Midgets and Screw Jobs: The Untold Story of How Montreal Shaped the World of Wrestling

I mean it, look up the Barkley Marathon. Honestly. The 9to5 (dot cc) ultramarathon will become the most intense, grueling 100+ mile marathon of all time. Instead of a starter pistol the race will start when Scott fails to say “fuzzy bunny” after putting as many marshmallows in his mouth. Jono sat this one out because he is in Canada’s martimes. We will be following up in episode 162 with the question that I’m sure is on all of your minds: How many times did he sing “Barrett’s Privateers” either to himself or publicly while he was there? My guess is more than 12.

Tom Zalatnai is the Young Lion of Montreal podcasting. I don’t know if this is a “watch the throne” situation or not but he’s got all kinds of exciting things going on over on the The Upford Network (pronounced “Up Ford” and not “Up For D”). In addition to being the host and creator of their flagship show “Up For Discussion” Tom’s network hosts a variety of podcasts covering a bunch of topics. You should check all those shows (but especially Tom’s) right now. But wait, after you listen to this.
Also, Walter and I will be on the next episode of Up For Discussion that drops next Tuesday! So stick around for that!
As always tell you friends and if you haven’t already: Subscribe!
The Upford Network is also in the middle of their IndieGoGo campaign where they are hoping to raise money to soundproof their studio! So, if it tickles your fancy you can go ahead over there and support them that way.

E3 passed and I didn’t give a shit. You might think that makes me less of a gamer, but almost certainly my Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup skills will demolish yours. Gaming, even specifically computer gaming, is a wide enough space that you can live your days as a robustly engaged hobbyist and literally never intersect games played with another equally enthusiastic hobbyist differing solely on taste. Obviously. There was a time when E3 interested me but after finding a few later beloved AAA releases to be real boring I backed off and haven’t been back. Does that read like someone got a little defensive a co-host muscled in on his subject territory?

Not going to lie, I can extremely close to losing all of the audio for this one. It took me a long time and a lot of luck to have this file ready for you today. But here we are. Lise Vigneault and Paul Naiman from one of Montreal’s hottest (HA!) sketch groups HOT RAW FIRE join Walter and I to talk about a few of their upcoming show including their super exciting show Hot Raw Fire All You Can Eat at this year’s OFF-JFL on July 2oth. (They’ve also got a show on June 21st as part of Sketch Republic, but that’s hardly an all you can eat Hot Raw Fire situation).
Also be sure to keep tabs on HOT RAW FIRE on Facebook and on Instagram.
