  • The End of Ice: Mitchell Rabin Interviews Journalist, author Dahr Jamail
A Better World continues its ongoing series on the Environment & the subjects of Global Warming & what has amounted to Climate Catastrophe. Mitchell's guest today, internationally-renowned journalist and author of many books, most recently, The End of Ice, Dahr Jamail, terms it "Climate Disruption".  Today we'll take another look at the global, eco-systemic situation from the point of view of melting glaciers and ice.  Dahr's far-reaching, well-researched work reveals a picture of the planet that we are all better off knowing about than not.
In late 2003, weary of the overall failure of the US media to accurately report on the realities of the war in Iraq for the Iraqi people, Dahr Jamail went to the Middle East to report on the war himself, where he has spent more than one year in Iraq as one of only a few independent US journalists in the country. Dahr has also reported from Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan. He has also reported extensively on veterans’ resistance against US foreign policy, and is now focussing on anthropogenic climate and the environment.
Dahr’s stories have been published with Truthout, Inter Press Service, Tom Dispatch, The Sunday Herald in Scotland, The Guardian, Foreign Policy in Focus, Le Monde, Le Monde Diplomatique, The Huffington Post, The Nation, The Independent, and Al Jazeera, among others. Dahr is currently and has been a feature writer for Truthout.org for five years, and his climate feature page there is titled ‘Climate Disruption Dispatches‘.
Join Mitchell and Dahr today in this exploration of 'what's happening on the ground and in the mountains' of our beautiful planet that is heating up more rapidly than anyone might have predicted.  May it help to clear up what choices we can make to be part of the solution.

  • Mitchell Speaks of The Coldest Places on Earth, or Are They?
The coldest places on Earth are now becoming warmer, and the warmer the colder.  Where ice has been everywhere, is now melting and drifting away.  Ice-skating is giving way to surfing.  It’s so profound a change that if I don’t joke about it, I’ll start to weep, and then add more water to rising sea levels.  We’re in hot water and cold water at the same time and we need to discuss this thoroughly, rationally, and intelligently.  Many scientists are, many activists are, very few politicians are, and well, everyone needs to really get on board.
    Let’s discuss!

  • Mitchell Rabin Interviews Robert Hockett, AOC's Green New Deal Adviser
One of the most exciting proposals to emerge from Washington in a long time is the Green New Deal, a kind of legislation that would have been best implemented some 40 years ago when climate scientists at Exxon knew of the dangers of fossil fuels (that actually goes back to the 1950’s), and others such as NASA’s climate scientist, James Hansen, knew the danger we were facing.  He was made famous for his testimony before Congress on his findings in 1988.  The Congress, on the other hand, was made infamous for their inaction.
One of AOC’s chief advisers on the GND is today’s guest, Robert Hockett.  Robert the Cornell Law Faculty in 2004. His principal teaching, research, and writing interests lie in the fields of organizational, financial, and monetary law and economics in both their positive and normative, as well as their national and transnational, dimensions. His guiding concern in these fields is with the legal and institutional prerequisites to a just, prosperous, and sustainable economic order.
Robert has been in a flurry of national media interviews over the past several weeks but by and large, reduced to sound bites and pressed to speak of the least important aspects of it or of AOC instead of the heart and intent of the proposed legislation.  In today’s interview on A Better World Radio with Mitchell Rabin, a much more thorough examination of the Green New Deal, uninterrupted by drug and car advertisements, will be engaged.  We will look at the GND in some depth and come to understand of what it is composed and if wisely implemented, what it could mean for the future of our nation and planet.

  • Mitchell Speaks on the Green New Deal & Renewable Initiatives
One of the most exciting proposals to emerge from Washington in a long time is the Green New Deal, a kind of legislation that would have been best implemented some 40 years ago when climate scientists at Exxon knew of the dangers of fossil fuels (that actually goes back to the 1950’s), and others such as NASA’s climate scientist, James Hansen, knew the danger we were facing.  He was made famous for his testimony before Congress on his findings in 1988.  The Congress, on the other hand, was made infamous for their inaction.
In a last-minute change in which guest, Robert C. Hockett, adviser on the Green New Deal to U.S. Congressional Representative from NYC, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, couldn't be available, MItchell reads portions of the GND Proposal and offers comments and solutions, referencing some colleagues and some of ABW's business affiliations such as with Zoetic Global, Ethical Markets and the Drawdown Organization.
While the situation is dire and our sobriety about it is the best option, there are massive solutions at hand which the GND can help to implement with government funding relatively quickly, as the ice is melting under our feet as we speak

  • Mitchell Rabin Interviews Journalist, Anti-nuclear Activist Harvey Wasserman
Of the many formidable and threatening issues facing our species is the abominably reckless, irresponsible actions of politicians who began the nuclear project at Los Allamos and have continued it in various forms since such that we have warheads facing Russia now as we have since the Cold War and they too have theirs facing us.  We have utterly tenuous and volatile nuclear power plants across the country, some sitting on earthquake faults (Diablo) and others situated within 20-50 miles of major urban centers with millions of people (Indian Point).  Among the many threats to our and many other species, the nuclear threat looms as one of the greatest.
To speak about this threat today with Mitchell is American journalist, author, democracy activist, and advocate for renewable energy Harvey Wasserman.
Harvey has been a strategist and organizer in the anti-nuclear movement in the United States for over 30 years. He has been a featured speaker on Today, Nightline, National Public Radio, CNN Lou Dobbs Tonight and other major media outlets. Wasserman is senior advisor to Greenpeace USA and the Nuclear Information and Resource Service, an investigative reporter, and senior editor of The Columbus Free Press where his coverage, with Bob Fitrakis, has prompted Rev. Jesse Jackson to call them “the Woodward and Bernstein of the 2004 election.” He lives with his family in the Columbus, Ohio, area.

Robert was born and raised in Hunan, China. At age eight, he began an intensive apprenticeship under the close guidance of the legendary monk Xiao Yao, an enlightened master known for his profound healing ability and martial arts skill.
At age fifteen, Robert performed a 100-day water fast in a small dark room at a secluded monastery in the remote mountains of Hunan province. He underwent a radical spiritual transformation and awakened amazing healing powers.
Master Xiao Yao encouraged Robert to develop his healing skills by studying with other Chinese masters. He pursued his training quietly while attending university in Changsha where he majored in English Literature. When he was twenty-nine years old, he began to teach publicly, and within five years he had trained over 150,000 students all over China.  In 1997, Robert was invited to relocate to Australia. Seven years later, he moved to New York City.
Robert was a guest on A Better World TV when he first arrived in NYC and the two have been friends ever since. Mitchell has also has had the good fortune of studying with Robert as well.

  • Mitchell Rabin Interviews Cellular Biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton on Epigenetics And
Mitchell’s guest this evening is world-renowned cellular biologist Dr. Bruce Lipton. Bruce is an internationally recognized leader in bridging science and spirit. Stem cell biologist, best-selling author of The Biology of Belief and recipient of the 2009 Goi Peace Award, he has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and international conferences. He has been a guest speaker on hundreds of TV and radio shows, as well as keynote presenter for national and lipton biology of beliefinternational conferences.
This evening, we will discuss the basic idea of epigenetics and how it profoundly, radically, pivots away from conventional medical understanding and yet has a sound scientific and commonsense base to it.  We will also discuss what is happening planetarily and societally from an ecological, consciousness and evolutionary perspective.
Dr. Lipton’s research on muscular dystrophy, studies employing cloned human stem cells, focused upon the molecular mechanisms controlling cell behavior. An experimental tissue transplantation technique developed by Dr. Lipton and colleague Dr. Ed Schultz and published in the journal Science was subsequently employed as a novel form of human genetic engineering. In 1982, Dr. Lipton began examining the principles of quantum physics and how they might be integrated into his understanding of the cell’s information processing systems. He produced breakthrough studies on the cell membrane, which revealed that this outer layer of the cell was an organic homologue of a computer chip, the cell’s equivalent of a brain.  Dr. Lipton has been a guest on A Better World Radio & TV numerous times since then and is on at least once per year.
